The Crowne Plaza Gerrards Cross, an IHG Hotel, garners positive attention for its impeccable cleanliness and inviting atmosphere, with the comfort and stylish decor of its rooms often highlighted. While the rooms are generally well-received, some guests point out concerns regarding size, noise, and upkeep. The service staff receives accolades for their professionalism and friendliness, despite occasional reports of inconsistency and delayed responses. The hotel's amenities, including the lauded spa and pool, are popular among visitors, though a few have noted issues with the steam room and lounge. Its strategic location is frequently praised, particularly for its convenience to work, family events, and local sites. However, the perception of value is mixed, with criticisms focusing on service quality and unexpected fees.

If you're looking for a relaxing getaway, warm, welcoming, smiling, attention to detail staff then, Crowne Plaza, Gerrards Cross UK should be your next stop. What a difference it makes when a new team of staff make you feel at home. My very recent stay for 2 nights has left me totally recharged simply because of staff 'Twinkle' from 1269 Restaurant Bar and Grill, 'Victoria' from Reception, 'Gabrianna' from the Club Lounge and Bar and Grill and of course the General Manager- 'Edward' all of which went that extra mile (or two) to attend to my needs. My partner and I have been going to Crowne Plaza for the last 10 years and this has been the best service by far. In addition to the full functioning facilities- steam, sauna, jacuzzi, swimming pool, treatments and the most comfortable bed and clean rooms, you have no choice but to return home floating on cloud nine. We'll be back!

Stayed at the hotel from Sun - Tuesday

Had to wait 30mins upon check in for our room to be ready, receptionist was really nice and apologetic we received a complimentary drink for the delay.

Upon entering the room it was nice and clean, towards the back of the hotel so it was really quiet with soundproof rooms

Breakfast was nice, and felt relatively COVID safe with table service.

Used the pool and the spa facilities. Went to the pool in the night so it was nice and quiet, a pleasant experience.

Overall I cannot fault the hotel, the service and the grounds. Would definitely come again. The only feedback I would suggest is let people know about the £50 per night security deposit. It is refundable but at least people booking have a heads up!

Lovely staycation. Thanks again!

Booked a deluxe 2 bed for 2 adults and 2 children on DBB rate. The price was a decent value. We chose this hotel due to location and also I grew up in the area and when I was 16 I got a job there doing silver service when it was the bell house (DeVere). The room was not deluxe and indeed was slightly shabby in places with worn carpet and a few stains. It was far too small for two double beds in my opinion (I previously worked for Holiday Inns and owned a small hotel myself) and would be better with a sofa and be a nice room for 2 people. Not a family. The shower room, though small, was perfectly acceptable. The service from reception staff was pleasant and Efficient. The swimming pool and spa were very good. All staff we encountered were friendly and polite. The food (breakfast and dinner) was good to very good. The issue with all meals was the slowness of service. A 2 course meal in the evening would take no less that 1.5 hours and usually 2 hours from start to finish. We were on a dinner inclusive rate and the hotel is running a limited menu which we knew about beforehand. You get a choice of 3 starters, 3 mains and 3 desserts. The problem was that this table d’hote menu did not change in the 4 nights of our stay. There was then a small a la carte menu and we were told that we could mix the choices up with that provided the choices were of same value. Difficult to know what that value was as this was not indicated - they could do it by way of showing supplements for inclusive guests. There was no children’s menu and so that was limited for the children. So with this uncertain meal choice situation, when The bill comes at the end it is a full price and you are told that night reception sort it out with our DBB allowance. That wasn’t done until the last night and so the last morning on check out we were presented with extra charges for each meal time. Now this is something to look out for - what most of these charges were was a 10% service charge automatically added. Now this was added to the children’s meals (who are supposed to be free) plus ours plus the drinks. You shouldn’t expect that on an inclusive rate! On the drinks maybe but not on the meal values which don’t apply to us as DBB guests. Also we got to use the stairs a lot as the lift in service only went to the third floor and we were on the 4th. I noticed that corridor carpets were not hoovered regularly and during the day I never saw bannisters being sanitised. I would have liked to have seen this done more often - particularly during COVID. Would I stay again? Probably but only in a bigger room and not on DBB (unless the menus were sorted out and better transparency on charging.

We stayed overnight at the Crowne Plaza Gerrards Cross on Saturday 9th August. We stayed in room 401 (family of 4).
We booked breakfast for 10.15. We were kept waiting to sit down and were shown into a dining room and given a menu. The table given to us was not set with plates and cutlery.
The majority of tables around us were cluttered with used crockery, half eaten food and drink etc. This is unacceptable. No effort was being made to clear these tables. Flies were buzzing around the dining room. We waited 30 minutes until around 10.50am. No-one acknowledged us, asked us about drinks etc. I could see staff moving quickly and working hard.
We needed to check out by 11am and carry on with our day. We got up and left. It was apparent other guests were not happy with breakfast service.

A gentlemen called Urman spoke to my wife and processed a refund of £8.32 for breakfast. This is an insult. This derisory refund is apparently because our booking was through hotels.com, a third party. In fact the invoice quotes a bill of £99.35 reduced to £91.03. However, the price I paid was £116.87.
This is a totally unacceptble amount of compensation for missing breakfast and being subject to an unclean environment.

Crowne Plaza have a "good to go" Visit England certificate. Their website states that they have "enhanced hygiene" and "we are implementing a new ‘Cleanliness Assured’ Programme at all Hotels to further safeguard our staff and guests against the Covid 19 virus." Leaving breakfast items, cutlery, food etc on tables is not showing enhanced hygiene. It is also simply not a pleasant environment to eat. The staffing levels were clearly not good enough to cope with the number of guests. Leaving us waiting for so long meant we could not eat and missed breakfast. We incurred costs elsewhere to feed ourselves and our two children. Offering £8.32 is an insult.

My family enjoyed use of the pool and gym and the room was fine.

Stayed here 5 times and it’s good to see that the standard has not dropped. We come back here because the great service, All staff very friendly and accomadating, spa, club lounge, restaurant and price.
We had a Quick and easy check in and got the room we requested. They recognised my Gold Elite membership which makes one feel special and want to come back.

We had a club room, it’s have every amenity in there that one would expect from a 5star hotel. The bathroom has a walk in shower with hand held and waterfall shower, extras include flannels, bathrobes, slippers, shoe mitt, shower cap, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, soap, body lotion, tissues. The room has an alarm clock, lots of lighting, desk, chairs, and a fridge with free welcome drinks and snacks (not seen this at any other hotel) it’s not much but it’s appreciated and a very nice touch. Teas and coffees, with a kettle. There’s also a safe, Tv and the rooms has loads of mirrors. The mattress was a little too soft for my liking but that’s down to personal preference. Overall the room was clean and comfortable. The club room comes with access to the club lounge; again a welcome bonus and one of the main reasons I stay here. Free hot/cold drinks all day and my favourite “happy hour” between 5-7pm daily where alcoholic drinks are served with snacks. It’s a good place just to chill or to catch up on some work.

We had afternoon tea (the festive menu) wasn’t very nice compared to the normal menu, we raised this to the chef so hopefully they will change it back to the regular menu soon. The restaurant food is good, and so was the room service.

The spa treatments are great, the girls do a great job and are very friendly especially Gemma; She did a thorough pedicure, massage and facial for my mum. The lighting could have been better for the pedicure but overall a good job. Made full use of the relaxation room this time. The jacuzzi was out of order but still managed to use the sauna and pool.

I was so surprised that our experience was so terrible. Me and my family stayed two nights in two rooms. Customer service by one male employee behind the reception desk was was so bad. Breakfast was absolutely awful. The food was cold by the time it arrived at the table. Due to currently no buffet option for breakfast, you had to order from a menu everything you want for breakfast all at once, this was not ideal as you could not order anything else once your order was placed. The juice was on display, but you could not help yourself, so we had to keep asking for juices, staff were not impressed. No towels in one of our rooms, so we had to ask several times for towels. No slippers or gowns upon arrival, so after asking, we were told they were drying gowns as they did not have enough, and we would get them the next day. The next day we asked again and eventually they gave us two instead of four but only after such. This service for a four star hotel is really not acceptable. The pool area was too crowded every time we tried to use it. We could not book any spa treatments as none were available until after our departure! We tried to seek the spa treatments soon after booking hotel but this was not possible. Rooms are VERY basic, they do not clean your room or make your bed or change your towels daily. You have to request this before 7am on the day you want it cleaned. I do not have one pleasant thing to say about this hotel. What a shame we wasted our money:(

Thank you very much for your feedback. I do apologise for the inconvenience we use your comments to train our team. Unfortunately the spa was fully booked, as you have mentioned, for your safety we have measures against Covid-19. We are not servicing the rooms daily except if you advise us in the morning due to the Covid-19 to not contaminate the room, you are the only people entering the room. These measures are important to make sure that you feel safe its added to the masks to be wore in public areas, the hand sanitising stations placed around in the hotel. Once again let me apologise for not making your expectations. Kind Regards, Zoltan Kovacs Front of House Manager

A very pleasant, modern hotel with good amenities & really good indoor pool, sauna & steam room. What immediately spoilt it was being asked to pay an extra £10 per hour early check in fee when we arrived 2 hours early at 1pm. On querying this, the check in desk manager said, "consider it a bit like paying extra for priority boarding or fast track at the airport”! I replied, “no it's not; hotels, restaurants & bars are all pleading for customers to support them during this difficult time but your just trying to screw extra money out of us”. I assume its Crown Plaza hotel chain policy as he wouldn’t budge so I refused & we headed to the bar with our cases instead; which, incidentally, they hadn’t offered to store for us. All the hotels I’ve ever stayed in (& that’s a lot over many years) will usually allow access to the room if it's ready & this is absolutely as it should be!

We had to book for dinner, which is fair enough, so we booked for 20:15 but there was a queue snaking down the stairs outside the restaurant & we had to wait over 30 minutes for a table but immediately asked to be moved as the seating was filthy. Service was chaotic to say the least & some of the events that followed could have come straight from an old “Faulty Towers” sketch; waiter tripping with portions of chips flying through the air, broken glasses, spilt drinks & there were several incorrect food orders on other tables we were watching. We waited another 20 minutes before our food/drinks order was taken & had to ask several times over the next 20 minutes where our food was as it was nearly 21:30. We were visited by no less than 3 "supervisors" who re-checked our order & apologised before disappearing again. Our main course then turned up before our starter at around 21:40, followed by our starter just a few minutes later. We declined & said we didn't want a starter served after our main course, we made the 22:00 close deadline but only just. We complained & in discussion with the manager were told the restaurant was over booked due to most guests having a dinner package (we didn’t) which they had to honour & also admitted to staffing problems that evening. We got a couple of free wines & 50% knocked off our bill which we accepted. But, with hindsight, perhaps I should have asked for the whole food bill to be cancelled as the food was luke warm & very average. Breakfast was plentiful & OK ish but could have been hotter & some of it was over cooked.

It’s a very nice, modern hotel with excellent facilities but our stay was spoilt by the request for an extra £10 per hour early check in fee & the problems we experienced in the restaurant & with food.

I booked a room for 1 night on the day hotel restrictions were lifted. The hotel was well organised for social distancing and hand sanitisers were readily available in the main foyer. Masks had to worn at all times while in a public place and it was n't too busy. Checking in was quick and easy, the receptionist was very polite and professional as you would expect. On site car parking is free.

My room was quite large although a little dark, I specifically asked for a bath tub of which I got. I like to stay cool so the air conditioning was very welcoming. Also having a fridge in the room is great for storing any food or drink should you not wish to use the expensive catering facilities in the hotel.

The hotel has a comprehensive gym and pool area. You have to prebook it in advance to get your time slot. I used the pool which was great, the jacuzzi was a bonus along with sauna and steam room.

It was a lovely short stay and I would recommend this hotel for some R & R if a little expensive. 4/5

We arrived Sunday August 1st and booked a suite. Kieran armly greeted us upon arrival and said they'd put us in the same suite we've stayed in previously as they know it's our favourite which was so thoughtful. Due to covid the club lounge is currently closed but we were given drinks vouchers to use in the main bar area and given drinks for our room. We were told if we needed more then to just phone through to reception.
We had booked dinner, bed and breakfast and made reservations for dinner for both nights of our stay.
We had massages booked for the afternoon and the staff in the spa were lovely. I used the gym after. There was plenty of antibacterial wipes and sprays and it wasnt busy.
We were greeted for dinner by Vinod who remembered us from our previous stays. The menu is limited due to covid bit there were 3 choices of starter, main and dessert. Dinner was lovely but it did appear that they dont have as many staff on at the moment due to not being able to run at full capacity I guess so the staff did seem quite busy. However their politeness and willingness to help was as fantastic as always.
Breakfast was lovely although there is no buffet. You can still order toast cereals, pastry basket and full english. Whilst it means the staff are busier I'm guessing it does help to reduce waste which is a positive.
We had afternoon tea booked for 2pm and at this point realised we didnt want to go home tomorrow.
We went to speak to the manager Zoltan to see if we could keep our room for another night and were delighted we could.
Afternoon tea was lovely. We ordered 2 between 3 of us and still couldn't finish it all. The lady that served us was the same lasy from breakfast who served us every day for breakfast. I didnt get her name but she was so polite and pleasant. It was a blond lady with glasses.
Dinner again that night was lovely but with there being only 3 dinner choices and ne not liking everything on the menu I explained to Vinod who was so helpful to ensure I got something I liked.
Breakfast and dinner were lovely again on our last day.
The jacuzzi is currently being fixed and the pool was nice to use. Again it wasnt too busy.
There are supermarkets and shops a 10 minute drive away as well as restaurants however we prefer to eat at the hotel.
The hotel is taking every precaution it can and cleanliness was not an issue.
The staff are all amazing and go out if their way to welcome and accommodate.
We hope to be back soon.

I've stayed here a couple of times before. The last visit seriously highlighted the shortcomings of the hotel.
The room allocated was tiny to say the least. Its probably the smallest I've been to apart from Hong Kong. The bathroom was mouldy, probably due to the poor ventilation. The toilet bowl was cracked, that can never be a good thing. Sound insulation in the rooms is a concern here. As you walk down the corridor you can hear clearly all the conversations going on in each room!!!
I had cause to call reception, no one answered even after a 10 min hold. I had to walk down. I was pretty irritated at having to do that to obtain essentials that ought to have been the room. When I asked for the managers name, free drinks vouchers were being handed out like confetti. I took them but never used them.
breakfast was poor. Why it took staff 15 mins to seat us I will never understand. The staff only clear tables when other guests require a table. It was abundantly clear that there were far too few staff at breakfast.
I used the Spa facilities. the steam and sauna were good but the Jacuzzi has been out of order since I think the Romans left. There is even mention on it on the website, so I guess its going to be a long term thing. There was no water in the dispensers, when I asked the staff I was advised that the member of staff was on a break! I felt embarrassed that I had to go to reception in my swimming shorts and even then the staff would give me water. It was only because of a kind guest who was coming to the facility who saw my plight and filled my water bottle. Crown Plaza, what a poor show.
I'm sure there was a Groupon voucher deal going on which didn't help. Surely the hotel know how many guests are staying from their bookings, it isn't rocket science to have the appropriate level of staff cover.
This last stay put me right off staying here again. It isn't cheap to stay but certainly not worth the experience. Crowne Plaza pull your finger out.
