Pillows a bit bouncy - but certainly never a major problem!
Only 1/2 hr free WiFi then you have to pay for it - in this day & age, WiFi should be available for guests without additional charges.
And charging £20 for pets - which we understand however we believe it should be refunded if there is no mess/stains. Wouldn’t take long for a quick check of the room when checking out & then give the money back. Understand there can be occasions when some pets have accidents & the need for cleaning and that’s when the £20 is required.
Basically every time we stay as a family, travelodge is getting an extra ÂŁ20 for the pet.
It is however in a good position with the Duke of Gloucester which is a lovely pub with good food.
Stay here at least twice a year when travelling north & have been for some time.
It's just off the Eastern bypass to Crewe (A5020) but set far enough away from the road to be very quiet. I had no problem with noise from other residents.
There's a large car park, and a convenient Coop store adjacent; within a couple of minutes' walk there's also a new Aldi, a Subway, a Greggs (in the petrol station) a pub, and a Chinese takeaway.
The lady on reception was unusually friendly for a chain hotel and made me feel welcome.
As always, the quibbles are the limited free internet access and the uninspiring breakfast box - but the latter is no problem with the alternatives available close by.
We were never bothered by any outside noise.
Staff are helpful and friendly and it was just a nice place to come back to and just relax. Room is nice and dark at night and we had a view of the river which was lovely.
If you stay at the weekend get a room at the back, TBH always get one at the back, the pub has live bands etc and you will think there is an earthquake outside.
There is a Tesco Extra about 10 minutes away and a Hungry Horse pub even nearer, which were very handy.
In the car park is a small group of shops including a small Coop and a Chinese takeaway. Again customer service was excellent when the Travelodge receptionist offered to loan us plates and cutlery so we could eat the takeaway in the lounge area.
There is an Aldi just on the other side of the road as you leave the car park and also a quite expensive pub at the top of the car park, which we didn't use, but I was able to connect to their free WiFi and use that.
There is a pub nearby for evening meals - the Duke of Gloucester. Also a Subway facility.
"Avoid the Chinese across from hotel they sell cheap nasty food with really bad rice that is absolutely vile"Read full review
