Me and my husband stayed here for 2 nights on a Groupon Offer, 2 nights b&b with evening meal on the 1st night and Afternoon Tea on the 2nd day. It was brilliant value and I just don’t see how the make any profit. The room we stayed in was lovely, with tea and coffee making facilities, 2 bottles of water each day, lovely big fluffy towels and a really large bathroom with bath and separate shower. There are only 12 rooms in the hotel, so there is a lovely friendly feel and the staff are really nice and very friendly. There seems to be quite a few very young staff, but they obviously have been well trained. The food for the included evening meal (with special menu for Groupon customers) was very nice and everything was well presented. You got 3 courses with several things to choose in each course. The Afternoon Tea included in the price was lovely and again well presented. There are 2 small rooms to sit in after your meal or if you don’t have a meal, there is a bar menu offered. The drinks in the bar are reasonably priced. There is nothing really in the area if you want to go out in the evening and you would need to drive on narrow dark country lanes. But if you want a lovely relaxing couple of nights away, this is definitely a Hotel worth a visit.

My two girlfriends and I stayed here for just one night at the end of September while walking the Sandstone Trail from Frodsham to Whitchurch. I booked it because it is conveniently situated just a couple of hundred yards/metres from the end of the first day. We received the warmest welcome which immediately made us feel at home. We had initially thought it might be too grand for three ladies in their muddy walking gear and rucksacks. We described the ambiance as ‘shabby chic’. Both rooms were large with a spacious bathroom and toilet which were scrupulously clean with large white fluffy towels. We enjoyed a very tasty meal for dinner with even tastier Romanian Sauvignon Blanc (that was a find). Breakfast was equally ample and delicious. The staff were all so friendly with the owners and heir family working there. We can’t recommend this hotel enough, it would be a fabulous venue for a wedding or celebration as the grounds were beautiful. Thank-you for making our stay so relaxing and special for us.

We arrived and were greeted by Molly the young receptionist. We had rooms 8 & 9 Tina was very apologetic regarding the rooms as they had no soft cushions or throws due to covid and as we were staying 2 nights the room would not be cleaned or serviced during our stay however if we needed any additional towels toiletries tea coffee ask at reception and she would leave it outside the door for us . Room 9 needs updating very dated in comparison to room 8 .
In our deal we got 3 course dinner first night food wholesome hot and delicious served by Debbie very friendly and efficient. Breakfast next morning served by a very sullen 😔 waitress won’t name her (I’m sure if you have stayed here you will know who I’m talking about ) it was mediocre . poached egg had to be returned under done and cold mushrooms not cooked whole breakfasts Luke warm. The sullen waitress did not ask at anytime was everything ok 👌 however breakfast next morning perfect hot and delicious. The afternoon tea inc in the deal pretty disappointing it looked nice well presented but not a scone in sight ? We had 3 finger sandwiches each luckily I had ordered chips as a side or we would have all been starving. The bar prices are very reasonable and well served and entertained by the happy Frank . The gardens are beautiful and well maintained. We visited a little village in Taporley beautiful and quaint . Overall stay excellent and yes can’t wait to return .

A visit to friends in Cheshire. They recommended this hotel as it was close by. I booked direct. August, so not mid Covid. The hotel had no housekeeping service - they said "we cannot service your room because of Covid restrictions, it's the law". So full room rate, no service! No email information at the time I booked to explain and give me the choice of whether I wanted to book elsewhere. So full rate - no service! No expresso available at breakfast, cold sterile room empty of anything remotely welcoming. The whole experience was one I would not repeat. Having asked my hotel business colleagues - fyi there is no "law" that says a hotel can't provide housekeeping! I have emailed the hotel twice asking for the GM to connect and give me an explanation as to why I paid full rate for no hotel experience when I could have just gone to a B&B in the local pub. Despite me asking for a reply to my questions I have had nothing. So during this difficult time I suggest hotels tell their guests the levels of service they will get at the time of confirmation of the reservation. A laminated piece of paper in the room which I was told outlined everything is not good enough. I don't read cheap laminated plastic anything after I have checked in......in this digital age, there is no excuse.

We visited just after lockdown restrictions were lifted to allow overnight stays. The hotel was 75% empty and we had booked a groupon deal. Although out of 12 rooms only 3 were occupied, we were still put in one of the two smallest rooms available at the back of the hotel.
The room had been newly painted but offered very little comfort. Old furniture doesn't necessarily mean antique, a very sagging soft bed, one chair for the two of us to share, grouting in the bathroom still needing to be finished, no shelves in the bathroom to put any toiletries, the wardrobe door hanging off its hinge and the window in the room unable to be closed fully due to over painting the frame.
I do have to say the hygiene procedures were exemplary and we felt very safe from any Covid contamination. The staff were very friendly and welcoming whilst continuing to be very hygiene conscious .
It is a shame they don't feel a groupon customer is worth showing the best of the hotel, especially as when we visited the grounds were in a sorry state of lockdown neglect and the hotel was by no means anywhere near full.
We would not return again, or book our wedding here, because the room we stayed in coupled with the grounds we saw, would not warrant full price.

This beautiful hotel in the Cheshire countryside is set in gorgeous grounds with amazing views and is a hidden gem, we enjoyed our stay here immensely. The rooms are comfortable and spacious with original features and the bathroom was clean, beautifully tiled with a great shower and lovely snow white, thick fluffy towels. Thank you to Moira and the team for making our stay so enjoyable nothing was too much trouble the ice cream and Galaxy ripple were a lovely personal touch thank you, an all round memorable experience and we will definitely return.

We had one night's stay as we were attending a wedding in the area. The building was nice, the gardens and terrace were wonderful, with a wide countryside view. Our attic style room was good standard. On the downside, they seemed understaffed and understocked. We had to wait until 5pm for our room to be available (housekeeping running late). This was not a problem for us except that when on the following day we asked to extend checkout by 30 mins a £30 charge per room was added. Thankfully they removed this when we reminded them of the check in delay. Fair's fair. Breakfast was really good. We didn't take dinner but instead went to eat at The Boot pub, just up the road. Be warned that taxi services in the area are scant. Local taxi providers are not available or willing to come out to the hotel for some reason. Instead we walked to the pub (about 15mins) but it is worth noting this strange lack of taxi provision.

My husband booked a suite here as a birthday treat & we were given room 1. The initial thought on the room was its big, lovely furniture (although upon a closer look the chest of drawers had broken/missing handles & would have been better placed at an angle in the same corner) fantastic 4 poster bed & amazing views. The bathroom was what let the room down. The wooden edge around the shower, shelf & boxing in looked like a quick weekend job, unfinished & with cheap plywood. What a shame. The bath was a great size but a free standing tub would have definitely given the wow factor.
The young reception girl upon arrival was lovely but the breakfast lady in the morning seemed rushed & wasn’t attentive at all. We had to ask for sauces & left without seeing her again despite waiting a good ten minutes after finishing. The book out reception lady was very much the same, not even asking had we had a nice stay nor was everything ok.
At £190 a night, we expected a little more & with the overall experience, we wouldn’t go again.

Recently held a golden anniversary party at the hotel for my parents - can’t thank the staff and the hotel enough. Everything was superb, location, food and service all first class. 12 members of the party also stayed overnight, rooms as always were beautiful, warm, welcoming and extremely clean, with a fabulous cooked to order breakfast the following day in a private room. We have celebrated 2 special occasions at the hotel over the past 12 months and on both occasions the hotel have gone above and beyond to make sure everything was to a high standard and met my expectations (I confess I’m a control freak and obsess over the smallest details!). Thank you to the team at Willington for making the weekend so special, we will definitely be back!

We have been to Willington Hall a number of times over the past few weeks for lunch whilst planning a large celebration to take place in the hotel and have had exceptional service and wonderful food every time we have been.

I confess that I am not the easiest of clients and like things done a certain way, and therefore had concerns that the event might not meet my expectations, however I needn’t have worried not only were they met they were exceeded! The hotel listened to what I wanted and accommodated all my wishes.

The hotel is in a beautiful setting and is a grand country house hotel. The bar has a relaxed cosy feel and the lounge areas ideal for us to sit and catch up with our friends prior to getting ready for the evening. The hotel has a mixture of suites, superior and double rooms (I looked at them all prior to booking) all are a great size and tastefully decorated, as some people have commented on their reviews, yes there are a few things in the rooms that could be updated but for us it added to the ‘grand old lady’ charm of the hotel (we have been fortunate to stay in some of the finest hotels in the world so I am picky) and the beds are soooooo comfy. As the hotel only has 12 rooms, which we had booked, it felt very much like we had exclusive use, I confess that walking down the grand staircase on Saturday night to be greeted by our friends I felt very much like Lady Mary in Downton Abbey!

The exclusive feel continued in the Hamilton Suite as it is very much a self contained function area, with its own entrance and bar etc so you truly feel that you and your guests have the whole place to yourselves

However, the thing that truly makes the hotel special are the staff, the team that they have at Willington are exceptional, the friendly and personal welcome from Sophie & Molly on reception, the ‘nothing is too much trouble’ attitude of Phil, Sarah & Moriah and the wonderful food prepared by Sam and his team (only praise from 70 guests says it all!) but a special mention to Michel who’s attention to detail matches my own! and ensured throughout the planning of the event and the evening its self that everything ran like clock work and everyone was taken care of and happy – we can’t thank the team at Willington enough

Ì would certainly recommend booking if you can. It was fairly quiet in the bar when we went but the restaurant was packed due to a function. The reception booked us a table in the bigger bar. The food was very good. Maybe give them a call. Nice staff - so they should be helpful.

No I'm afraid not - you will need to drive to the nearest village or shop. There is an excellent garden centre close by a few minutes drive called Okells.
