We stayed one night at the Shepherds Arms hotel whilst walking the coast to coast route. Our room was a good size but some of the decor was a little tired. However, the huge bed was probably the most comfortable one I have ever slept in. When we were due to eat in the restaurant there was a power cut....

Stayed here for our first night on our Coast to Coast walk. We were exhausted but quickly revived with a very warm welcome and a very good pint! The bedroom was a good size and very clean and there was a lovely shower with plenty of hot water. The evening meal was fantastic value and the beef steak was the...

This hotel is in a lovely location, however, we found it expensive for what it is and do understand it's under going some refurbishments. Everything was certainly adequate, our room was very spacious and clean, decent pub grub and breakfast but it just needs that bit of TLC. Reception staff on our arrival we not over welcoming or friendly however...

First stop on the Coast to Coast. Great bar and restaurant. Quirky little rooms in a rabbit warren of a hotel. All you'd want as an overnight stay in a hidden bit of England just before Lakeland. Perfect if you are on a walking holiday or doing the long walk.

Stayed here as part of our Coast to Coast walk. This was a very welcoming hotel for walkers and the rooms were generous and comfortable. The pub restaurant was popular with a lot of character and a high standard of food/ service.

From the moment we arrived until the moment we departed we felt valued and accommodated. After a long day on the Coast to Coast track we enjoyed a warm welcome, good beer, great food and a wonderful breakfast and packed lunch. Comfortable bed, modern bathroom & warm room. We appreciated the 7.30am breakfast option.

Arrived here on a sunny afternoon having done the first leg of C2C. Rooms were lovely and sizeable. Great beer garden and lovely bar. Food was excellent, good beer and wine selection. The waitress at breakfast was lovely, really friendly. Breakfast had a good range of options, pack lunches were also good, particularly the homemade flapjack! Only comment I would...

Stayed here on first nights stay on the Coast 2 Coast and it is a basic hotel and I understand it was flooded last year, I would have given it only a 3, if it wasn't for the staff, they are the most welcoming and friendly people you could meet with lots of advice and help, we've since stayed in...

Very impressed wth our stay on the C2C last year so booked in again for two nights in order to walk several of the Ennerdale peaks. Not disappointed again!! Every aspect was of the highest standard. All the staff were extremely friendly towards ourselves and our Labrador. Nothing was too much trouble. The food is fantastic for both the evening...

After a long day's walking, managed to get a taxi to this pub and had a really lovely meal and some good beer. Very friendly landlady made us feel at home, gave us samples of beer to taste and then we had really good food - the pork medallions in a tarragon sauce were delicious. Amazing really that you can...
