We visited the Mortal Man for dinner on New Years Eve. The food was absolutely fantastic, in fact we all said that it was the best meal we'd out ever! The pub itself was busy, but everything about the meal, service, atmosphere was fantastic.

Stayed in holiday cottage next to this pub and went there on first night for dinner. Pub was a bit weird, very dirty but the worst was the food. I'm sure everything is bought in, my main of chicken Kiev was utterly rank. The waitress (think could have been the landlady) asked how it was when coming to clear table,...

We travelled from kingswinford in the West midlands for 3 days away. The building is beautifully set within peaceful hills & has a lovely mature garden .Inside is traditionally furnished in keeping with the age of the property. The bar & lounge boasts 4 lovely open fires. The staff were friendly, chatty & attentive. The lounge & our bedroom overlooked...

A proper pub in a lovely village. Friendly staff, good range of drinks (especially if you like cider -- this pub has won awards for its range of ciders). The food here was some of the best we've ever had in a pub. The "Curried Bubble and Squeak" was brilliant, delicate, like something from a michelin-starred restaurant. We were there...

There are some fantastic walks over the hills to Ambleside , just follow the others. The staff are friendly and the rooms very comfy. The...

Utterly lovely hotel. VERY friendly staff who couldn't do enough for us. One of my friends had the soup and the other had a prawn sandwich. Both portions were fabulous. I had a carrot coriander burger. It was delicious and very good value for money. Lovely traditional surroundings made this perfect for a winter lunch. I can't believe the place...

Lovely food, great atmosphere with a roaring, welcoming fire right next to us on a cold night. Really enjoyed this meal for my wife's birthday. I had gammon, eggs, and pineapple, don't normally get both and it was beautiful. All the meals were really tasty. Starters nice and the sticky toffee pudding for afters was to die for. The staff made...

There is certainly a lot to like about this place. It has a long history (late 1600s) you can read about in the pamphlet in your room, there's info on local activities and sights. Very dog-friendly, and there's a dry room to air soggy walking clothes. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and you're never waiting too long for...
