A lovely pre Christmas break. We had a great room with its own sitting room. The real highlight as always is the lovely food the pub serves and open fires. Especially nice to have the residents lounge to chill in by the fire in the evening. friendly staff and a perfect location in our favourite valley in the lakes.

Stopped here for one night (in the suite). After a long day, a pint on arrival next to the fire in the lounge - whilst looking out towards a snow topped wetherlam, was a great welcome. The room was lovely, warm, and spacious, but the shower.....extraordinarily good! Powerful, plentiful, brilliant! Had three course evening meal, great unpretentious tasty deliciousness. Breakfast...

We popped into the Three Shires for lunch during a Lakeland walk. A lovely location offering a warm retreat from the cold winter day outside. Staff were friendly and the service was excellent. The inn was full and very busy but our lunch was served swiftly and efficiently. The homemade soup was wonderful, sandwiches substantial and the ciabatta roll were...

Last minute break with a great weather forecast to a place that has been one of our favourites for many years. What I really like is the cosy feel, which is just what you need after a day on the fells. Plenty of ale and malts, mulled wine and good unpretentious food to put back on the calories that you've...

We had two nights at the Three Shires to mark my wife's birthday. We've stayed there before and chose to return because of its remote location and proximity to some excellent walks. The staff are really great, very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. We wanted some decaf for our room - no problem. We had wet boots -...

We have had another fantastic stay at this lovely pub, hidden away in Little Langdale. There is walking from the doorstep, no need for a car and great local beer with very generous helpings of tasty food when you return. Surrounded by the Lakeland hills, this is a hidden gem. It's not fancy and pretentious, just welcoming, quiet and in...

We booked this hotel at the last minute for a weekend break. The hotel was lovely, our room was small but very comfortable with good views. The staff were friendly and helpful and made out stay enjoyable and relaxing. I can recommend the venison steak and the pack Lunch. It was great to be able to go on walks straight...

We have visited this pub many times, when walking in the area, either for lunch, or a drink towards the end of a long day. This time we were doing a round walk from Ambleside via Elterwater, so stopped here for lunch. There is a lovely fire and a good choice of beers and soft drinks. The soup and sandwiches...
