Me and my partner visited on a trip to help out Lakeland wildlife oasis as volunteers to help them out with the recent floodings. Yes they give use a twin room for £50 but the service we received was terrible when my partner asked for a plate knife and fork we was told no as if we brought take out...

This place is close enough to the motorway to be easy to reach but far enough that you are in a quiet little village. The building is very old, low ceilings and sloping floors (so not good for old/infirm), and even in bed we were sloping in one direction which felt quite peculiar. The rooms décor very old but it...

We loved this place but the atmosphere is a little Draconian. I do understand that it is a public house as well as a hotel but I was worried about exits after hours. We were 4 hours behind schedule because of the M6 fiasco. However- the breakfast was superb. My husband had the full English on both mornings. He was...

Before I start, the service and the building itself was very good, however its just unfortunate that the food let them down. The Starters and Pudding we OK, however the main was very very poor. We had a Sunday lunch and I have tasted better meat from the packet at a supermarket, all the food tasted like oven baked from...

Our group called in here for a meal on the way back to our B&B. The staff were happy to move things around to accommodate 8 people which was good. However one of our group wanted steak pie only to be told there was none (would have been nice to have been told before we ordered!). Two people wanted a...

Ive seen posts in the hotel that says that you are not allowed to bring food or drinks purchased outside of the hotel, otherwise you will be charged £50, WHAT??? who does that? and it's not like they have great food, to be honest the food taste like cardboard. The staff is apaling including the owner who is always arouund...

Visited recently for tea whilst staying in the area. Walked in at 5.30pm just as they started to serve meals, didn't get a very warm welcome from the lady behind the bar as we ordered drinks & asked for menus. I ordered a specials Chicken, ham & leek pie, there was a lack of chicken & it could have been...

The location of this hotel is excellent for mountain biking in nearby Grizedale and we booked beacuse unlike a lot of the other nearby hotels/guesthouses there is no minimum stay period at weekends. Our room was right on the top floor and was a good size with a large attached bathroom. It was clean and comfortable but the only issue...

Stayed one Saturday night. Twin rather stuffy room. Small fan very useful. Comfortable but small. Kettle etc, small ok tv on wall. En suite shower with little pressure. Three young staff, excellent, esp young man behind bar. Older staff, owners? fairly miserable. Good breakfast and good bar meals, served fresh and fairly quickly.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hotel is surrounded by a wealth of history, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, such as Leighton Moss, and a wide range of visitor attractions Milnthorpe has a long history - its busy Friday street market in the Square dates from 1334.
