The menu isn't large but sufficient. It is basic - chips, roasts or new potatoes & all meals, it seemed served with one veg - peas. But, I had to give this 5 stars because the homemade steak pie was simply delicious. Chunks of tender beef, no fat at all, fab meaty gravy & the best pastry I've had in... More

My wife and I owned the Moorcock Inn from 1986 to 1989. We have called in for a drink on a couple of occasions since. While researching my family tree recently we discovered that one of my ancestors was actually the Inn keeper at the Moorcock in 1886. That must have triggered our old memorises of the Moorcock because we... More

While on a tour of the UK, we stayed one night at The morecock inn . The room was very compact. So much so, that there was barely room walk around the bed without bumping your knees on the bed, let alone unpack our suitcase. That said, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom (shower) was very usable, although there... More

It was a truly amazing place in a lovely peaceful location with lots of walks with waterfalls just outside the door. They were so good with the kids and made us feel at home. The owner Jo was lovely and Ruth really... More

The Inn has a remote and lovely location although it's a chore having to drive to the nearest town, Hawes, if your needs demand it. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Food is average pub grub (like most hotels in this area with uncannily similar menus!) but hearty and OK. Service very good. BUT, the property itself (two knocked together... More

We had a two night stay B&B at the Moorcock Inn. The location is really nice and ideal for walkers and a short drive to Hawes. The Inn itself has a good atmosphere and decor, and a bar with a good selection of real ales. The staff were very friendly and helpful during our stay and the service was very... More

Stayed for 1 night as we wanted to do a bit of walking in the dales for the weekend, Moorcock is located near Garsdale head train station and is surrounded by lovely dales scenery, a very peaceful setting. We stayed in the Garsdale room (all rooms are named after Yorkshire dales) the room was comfy and had all we required... More
