I stayed here for 1 night in April whilst on a walking holiday. The Inn did not open until 3pm. We had a warm welcome and our bedroom was large with a lovely ensuite shower room. I had a meal in the evening, the bar was really quiet and the owner cooked my food. I had a superb sirloin steak...

We tried this pub out on our arrival in Shap after a very tough day's walking from Patterdale with a view to possibly dining there later in the evening. Just one real ale on offer and a bit lacking in any real character persuaded us to look elsewhere.

Proprietors and bar staff very friendly and helpful, rooms clean and nicely decorated ... Cosy and comfortable. Breakfast enjoyably English. Upon arrival, was pleasantly surprised by the friendly welcome and helpfulness of staff due to lack of local amenities Ie bus service and taxi service out of village, absolute reliance on own transport.

Saved my life when I was stuck on the motorway for 7 hours, and let me in at 0200! Nice room, but I did not get much of a chance to enjoy the pub as I was 7 hours late, but outstanding breakfast and best black pudding I have ever tasted. Extremely friendly and accommodating and really good prices, highly...

This hotel had good sized rooms with en-suite facilities. The owners were welcoming and helpful especially with allowing us to dry our clothes in their boiler room! Our room was at the front of the hotel and was very noisy due to the hotel being located on a main room. Our friends had a room on the level up and...

We stopped by here for a evening meal as we were staying at a local B&B and were very impressed by the menu choices, the prices and the quality of the food. We met up with some other coast to coasters who were staying here and others who did the same as us, just dropped by for some food. We...

Booked in here to overnight after Day 5 of my Coast to Coast walk. Check-in was easy. All staff were friendly/helpful. The food at dinner [giant chicken burger] and packed lunch were great. The bedroom was superb for an "inn with rooms" [I got a twin room at a single occupancy price] and the shower was large and superbly hot....

The King's Arm is a traditional old style pub. It is close to the end of the Main Street. It has wifi. It is comfortable but in need of some renovations. The staff were friendly and meals were served efficiently, which were all £7 each! Our room was on the top floor and we had a separate bathroom. Beds were...

We stayed at this hotel on the C2C walk. The rooms were spacious and clean. The staff packed a nice lunch for us to take on the next day's hike and made porridge on request for breakfast as well as cooked to order eggs. The dinner menu was extensive with vegetarian options and reasonably priced with generous portions. Jacket potatoes...
