My husband and I stayed here for a 3 night short break. The room was clean and comfortable with bath as well as shower - always a plus. The staff were great and couldn't do enough to help. We ate in both the bistro and the breakfast room and had good food in both. The hotel is well positioned to visit the north and west of Cumbria with easy access to the Lake District and the coast. All in all a lovely stay. Would visit again.

Stopped by without a booking on a busy Friday night in August. Receptionist very pleasant and courteous, restaurant manager very pleasant and accommodating and I enjoyed a very nice meal. Was only sorry I had prepaid accommodation booking elsewhere.

We booked a 2 night stay Fri/Sat. We wanted somewhere close to the lake district with a swimming pool. The room had a smell of stale smoke and aftershave, wall paper hanging off, stains on bathroom tiles and holes in chairs. This should have been enough to make us turn round and leave. However the restaurant and bar was actually really good. We did have a nice meal and the staff were really good. The worst was still to come, there are 3 nightclubs over the road playing ridiculous music until 3am, the streets were littered with people till gone 5am, we did not get any sleep at all. In the morning we told reception of the issues and they were understanding we explained we wanted to cancel the second night and they offered to refund the cost. £161 per night, which is so over priced rekative to other more modern hotels. Definitely not recommended
