We had a wonderful stay. Warm welcome, beautiful views, we had our own hot tub, wonderful lodge and were offered fresh veg from the herb and veg garden. Will definitely be coming back, the hosts are wonderful and very friendly.

I called George late in the evening for a place to stay, he was so welcoming and the room was the most beautiful and comfortable place I've stayed in all of England. Breakfast and conversation was as if I had been part of the family for ever. George and Joan are super hosts (and the neighbor man is a hoot too.) Thanks for everything Chris

George and his wife Joan manage this large country house as a guest house as well as being their family home. Immaculate, generously proportioned room, very nice breakfast cooked to perfection to order. If you're in the area, definitely worth a visit; a cut above the normal run-of the mill. If staying longer, it may be worth considering holiday lets being currently refurbished from the very grand stable-block to the front of the property (but secluded from view). best tip: follow satnav to postcode, but when it says turn right, turn left and you're in. It's a fairly rough track, but the house at the end of it is anything but.

We stayed with George and Joan for three nights last week whilst attending my son's wedding. Very warm welcome. Lovely light airy room with amazing views. Comfortable bed with charming additions. Very good, hot shower, and lovely jacuzzi bath. Breakfast was amazing. Freshly cooked, and as much or as little as you wanted. We shall certainly return when in the area again. Thank you both.

This was high on our list of possible places to stay from some of the reviews and we were going to reserve on line but decided to take a drive to take a look. As we pulled into a grand horse head gated entrance we were met by nothing but grey. The site looked unfinished and not at all inviting there was no colour and in such a beautiful part of the world the buildings looked out of place. The building in front of the house was almost prison like and lacked care. Unfortunately we didn't get a great vibe and decided not to stay. First impressions are really important and there was nothing that made me feel welcome.

Our stay at the Cumberland Lodge was a wonderful experience. We were warmly welcomed by the owner George and offered refreshments. He showed us to our room which was superb. Everything was of the very best quality. The bed was sheer luxury and we had a better sleep than we do at home. So quiet. Our room looked out across the hills. The breakfast served to us was excellent. The friendship from the owners George and Joan was great. We hope to return and we will tell all our friends how great this place is.

Have just completed 3 day business trip to the area, had two of the most relaxing nights at George and Joan’s wonderful B&B. Luxury comparable with any 5 Star hotel in the UK. George and Joan offer superb hospitality and would probably be very successful if they run their own communication and leadership coaching business. Just a class act. Pub and restaurant within easy walking distance which both provide great quality food and beer. Superb.

We travelled for a family funeral. The house was built in recent years to the owners unique specification and furnished and fitted in an equally personal and expensive mode It would be impossible for the hosts to show greater concern for guests comfort and pleasure
