I stayed here recently with my husband and forty eight members of a walking group . Our room was clean, bed linen and towels spotless .The food was very good ,varied and served at the table piping hot by very helpful staff . The entertainment in the evening was very enjoyable . The decor is a bit dated and there may...

Just home from short break with our walking club & I would like to add that we could not fault the treatment we received at this hotel. Rooms although dated were clean & comfortable, nothing was too much trouble for the staff & the food served was excellent. Anne the owner was pleasant & helpful. The entertainment each evening was...

Just returned from weekend at Cumberland hotel nice hotel very comfortable, food excellent home made flavoursome and more than satisfactory portions. Very floral decor and flowers everywhere so if you have allergies to flowers not the best place, bedrooms were small but clean and comfortable, stairs outside and inside maybe four or five down to reception very small lift to bedrooms,this...

Me and another family member had the misfortune of staying here back In May for the David Urquhart - Lake District Explorer Tour. The best day we had was on the way home. The hotel itself is pretty much right in the middle of a housing scheme and really isn't suitably located near anything of interest or use apart from...

First of all I would like to say how dated the hotel was, for what is claimed to be a great hotel it is stuck in some kind of 1960s floral time warp. The room I stayed in was old, unclean and very basic the television did not work and the lamp also did not work. I enquired about getting...

I stayed here for Business purposes back in January 2016 for one night after my original booking at another Hotel nearby had been messed up. On arrival the Staff are generally quite welcoming and friendly and the first impression is a bit like walking into somebody's home rather than a hotel. The rooms are of a good size but when...

Visited The Cumberland Hotel for a weekend with my Mum and daughter. The hotel is very homely the owner Ann is very welcoming. We were checked in by her grandson Matthew who was very polite and helped my daughter with our cases, we had a twin room and a single room. We requested rooms beside each other which we got....

...sometimes, maybe too tight. There was some uncertainty with the length of my stay, so I paid for three nights in advance and said that it might be necessary to make it four days. I needed four days for the assignment in the nearby paper mill so I just left on the fourth day's morning saying "To the Mines!" or...

The first impression of the interior of the hotel was unpleasant. There was a strong stale smell which was very off-putting. I and my two friends were expected to share three beds in a room that barely took two beds. It barely qualified as a single room size. The room had no air conditioning. The window sill was covered in...
