As a business traveler I would like to see a lamp on the desk to help with working. A shelf for washbag in the bathroom is a personal preference rather than the drawer so that I do not risk leaving things behind when departing. Otherwise, rooms are comfortable and the food and staff hospitality are excellent.

The bedrooms are lovely and clean and have everything in you need. The Bar and Restaurant were also fabulous. The food was excellent and all the staff from on the reception desk to serving behind the bar and the breakfast were all lovely and friendly and chatty and always smiling. Would definitely stay there again. Highly Recommended and Thank You. Helen & Colin Berry xx

We stayed for 1 night, visiting family nearby. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was clean, warm and comfortable. There was plenty of parking. We didn’t eat in the restaurant at night, but our breakfast was fantastic.

A well furnished and appointed hotel with wonderful friendly staff. Good breakfast selection on menu and excellent evening meal. The hotel is well positioned to visit the English Lake District or the West Cumbria Coast.

This hotel… loved it! We booked direct, you get a discount if you go direct, the price was great. We were visiting to climb Scafell Pike, the hotel was a distance away but much appreciated once we arrived. I rang ahead to ask if our room had a bath, it didn’t so a quick switch and a small upgrade fee and it was sorted. We were then running late so needed to change the dinner reservation time, quick phone call and again sorted. On arrival we loved what we saw. Once checked in we went to our room, it was lovely! Spacious, clean and warm after a cold day walking. A lovely hot bath then time for dinner. Oh my, the food! Absolutely delicious and washed down with a lovely cocktail, the prices are so reasonable. We’re from the Cotswold so used to ridiculous prices. Breakfast before checkout has to be one of the best full English I’ve ever had, shame I was too full to finish it! Cooked perfectly and served hot. With this hotel we really couldn’t fault a thing. We were worried about the distance but it was really worth it. Staff are so friendly, they spend time to chat about your day and nothing was too much trouble! We now need an excuse to visit again

Loved our stay, will stay again. Room was lovely and bed was comfortable, staff were friendly nothing was too much trouble, even changed mash to chips without a blink on one of our meals, and the food was great. Was good value for money, and a good base to visit the area.

The Melbreak is a really good restaurant. The bar is very comfortable and a wide variety of drinks are available. The food menu is good with lots of choice. The food is delicious. The staff are all friendly and efficient. My only gripe is the cost of the deserts which are similar to other restaurants I have visited, but if you want cream or ice cream with your desert it is 75p extra ! This makes the price of a cheesecake very expensive. Why charge extra for something that should be included in the price ? It won’t stop us visiting again but we will probably give desert a miss.

The Team at the Melbreak hotel cannot be faulted. I was on the hunt for an away day booking for my executive team to attend. The booking process was streamline and easy. My exec team was very positive on their return back to the office saying it was a great setting, food was fantastic and the staff were very helpful.

Fantastic hotel, arrived just after 12 and our room was ready, we had room 7 which is a deluxe king size room and it was spotless, nice and spacious and bathroom really nice too. We went out for the day so didn’t sample evening meal, however we came back and had a few drinks in the bar area and was lovely surroundings. The breakfast was great lots of choice for cereals and yoghurts then cooked breaky made to order. All in all the hotel.. the staff.. everything was out of this world please make a point of visiting this hotel. I never visit hotel again as love to visit new hotels, however this is defo an exception and will be visiting this again later on in the year

We had a short overnight stay in one of the superior rooms. The room was clean and the bed comfortable, personally I would like two pillows. Had I asked, I’m sure another pillow would have been found. The bathroom had a shower curtain, clean but I’m not a fan. Very welcoming and helpful staff, both in reception and in the restaurant. Would be very happy to stay again. We ate and enjoyed both dinner and breakfast in the hotel restaurant.
