Second time we've stayed here and as impressed this visit as we were last winter. Rooms clean and comfortable, very dog friendly, food superb and very helpful staff. Nothing too much trouble and the breakfast was excellent, properly made creamy porridge- just the thing before a day out walking! Highly recommended!

Called in for a family lunch. We all enjoyed it very much including our 10yr old. Staff excellent, could not be more helpful. Food traditional Christmas fayre, turkey with delicious trimmings followed by home made Christmas pudding, Only the coffee disappointed. On a cold windy day we were snug by a roaring fire. A really good day.

Nice greeting after an horrendous drive through floods, room very spacious and a very reasonable cost. Was a little on the cold side but putting double glazing would ruin this place. Food was very nice and reasonably priced for the quality, the only negative is I would have liked a proper open fire, but that's a small thing, would definetly...

We were attending an evening auction at the Rising Sun with friends. We diced that it would be convent to stay there for the weekend. On enquiring we are told that only an executive suite was available. At £130 this was more than we wanted to pay but on checking the website and looking at the photos we decided to...

I struggle to review this hotel, the staff were all excellent and each is worthy of special mention. My family and especially our dog were well looked after. I could divide the place into 2 ... the restaurant/pub ... lovely! The food was really nice and well presented. The hotel, not so much. inside and out was tired and in...

I decided not to give the Rising Sun a 'Terrible' rating because there were positives during our stay. However, these were sadly overshadowed by the negatives. Upon arriving at the hotel, there was no one at reception to greet us. After waiting for a short while, as I went to look for someone a member of staff finally greeted us,...

We were part of a block booking for a Saturday wedding celebration. One room, a "superior" twin number 11 was freezing cold and sheets very poor quality. Other room, double room 9 the bed moved every which way - up and down, side to side, the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in. There was a lack of attention...

Stayed here for couple of nights. Food excellent. Location disappointing for us as required choice of pubs/eateries nearby. For walkers brilliant - many many walks in vicinity. Decor rather tired. Woodwork in need of decoration. Management and staff brilliant. Made our stay very welcome. Value for money V good - had room upgrade without asking. Lovely suite. Whoever stays will...
