Went for an evening weekend meal, expecting to be impressed, having heard and read good things about eating at The Bluebell. First impressions of the building itself are not great. Gardens, paintwork etc are in need of some TLC. This is disappointing given the pricing for food and drink. The choice and quality of food is pretty good but be... More

found this via Google Maps as a place to meet friends who lived in the area. the website was down (not always a good sign) but we were not disappointed. large car park, peaceful country location and impressive restaurant from the white table cloths to the very friendly service (although the landlord is somewhat "Curmudgeonly"! the food was fantastic - not... This place has improved dramatically since the change of ownership- the food was lovely and the service was excellent! The goats cheese starter and Cajun chicken main were just delicious , and the atmosphere in the dining room was very relaxed and pleasant - we finished our evening outside in the garden, relaxing with a drink- a very enjoyable experience!... Yesterday's weather was a blip in the heat wave in Derbyshire so we were ready to warm up at lunchtime after a long walk and were pleased that the renowned Bluebell could find us a table, it has always been fully booked when we tried to go there. Omg the food was really lovely- and quite good value- on Sunday... More

Firstly we noted that all the cosyness of the old pub had been stripped out by the new owners, less of a compfy country pub and eatery more like pretend to be restaurants with no space for walkers/locals to have a quick pint or two. It seemed like the majority of the staff were raw and untrained to do anything... More

Wow. Understated and a quiet secret, this place serves food of the highest quality with a really good service. The starter (garlic mushrooms) is not what you expect and it blows you away wetting your appetite. The steaks were grande. Thoroughly recommended. Some nice guest ales to enjoy too.

My wife and I had a night free from the kids and were looking to go out for a meal. I'd driven past the Bluebell earlier in the day and thought it looked nice from the outside. I first looked at some reviews online which didn't look too promising but we thought we'd try it anyway. I'm glad we did.... More
