Bedrooms are very spacious and comfortable for the price, and building is in lovely settings, only thing that let it down is very minor is that the plates and crockery in the lounge were left for long periods of time without clearing

We recently stayed over night when attending a wedding at another venue. Having visited this hotel a few years ago and being massively underwhelmed then I was prepared to give it another try knowing that some rooms had been renovated. Sadly this visit did not change my opinion of the hotel. The room itself appeared to have been decorated recently...

We visited Makeney to start the festive season with our family to have a festive lunch. With it being relatively early in the festive season there were only 5 occupied tables so it was a nice quiet setting. We had a very enjoyable 3 course lunch. The food was lovely and the service very courteous and professional. A very pleasant...

My husband and I booked a night here for a brake and restful weekend. Included in the cost of our room was a 2 course evening meal and breakfast. The evening menu had a good choice and you could add extra courses for a small charge if you wanted. Food was very yummy - they even got me some ice...

Very comfortable room (room 1, for the disabled). Well equipped, large comfortable bed. Dining room overlooks the garden with a superb view over the valley. All the staff were friendly, helpful and professional. Local attractions include cotton mills and not too far away, the Castle Donington race track with the fantastic race car museum. I fully recommend a stay at...

My wife and I stayed at the hotel along with a large group of friends a week ago. On arrival the check was friendly, professional and swift, as the weather driving down from the north was dire. Our room was nice, overlooking the entrance and car park, one radiator in the room wasn't working, but the hotel provided a electric...

Set in spacious grounds with an attractive outdoor wedding area. The bedrooms are comfortable and have plenty of space. The public areas have lovely wood panelling. The food was delicious and very well presented. It is a dog friendly hotel . The staff are very helpful and welcoming.

This was overall a nice place to stay but the room became very cold during the night really could do with a heavier duvet. Fabulous amazing bathroom I could of stayed in that gorgeous bath all night... Decor is very tired really needs a total refurb, but it was clean, lovely fresh cotton bedding and best bath I've ever drawn!...

Visited this afternoon and had a lovely afternoon tea. The staff were very helpful nothing was too much trouble. Due to health issues we needed a gluten and sugar free tea which we rang up and pre booked. Not an easy ask but the the tea surpassed our expectations especially the selection of cakes.... Chocolate cake, scones, shortbread, and creme...

Just got back from a two night break away. We had two rooms in the courtyard, rooms one and two. These were disabled rooms and we had no problem with this as we are all elderly. The rooms were lovely and big, warm with comfortable beds. We ate in the restaurant on the first night, and the food was lovely...
