This has the potential to be a great pub. The building is great and the set up of the inside is fine. The range of beers above average and the menu is very good too. The let down came with the food itself. The chicken pie was good but the vegetables were shocking. When I stuck my fork in it...

Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese is more of a traditional pub in the lovely village of Castleton. Very cosy with nice little nooks and crannies to sit in. Friendly staff, good beers and nice food. We had the 'pie deal' for lunch here which was very good - just what was needed to warm us through after a walk across The...

This pub wasn't far from our holiday cottage. It's ok but the menu is huge and the food arrived so quickly that it seemed it had simply been reheated in the microwave. The staff were friendly but you get the message when they are setting up breakfast all around you and trying to shuffle you out. The table was lovely...

Very cosy, friendly pub, with history and a very traditional feel. The service was quick and efficient, the beef Sunday lunch was lovely, nothing fancy, but ticked all the boxes, fresh veg, 2 kinds of pots, lovely beef and the gravy was smashing. We were made to feel welcomed we didn't feel hurried despite the place filling up quickly. Lovely...

Set on the main street in Castleton in the heart of the Peak District, this is a 17th century traditional country pub, complete with beams, nooks & crannies and an open fire too. Great to find a lovely place like this that has the old fashioned charm I love. Nice choice of cask ales and great little menu.

Was staying at the caravan club site down the road and used the Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese for drinks & food. Lovely oldie whirly cosy pub. We got a warm welcome from all the staff. Loved how we could call in for a drink with the dog & muddy boots (although not too bad) after a morning walking. Food was...

My partner and I stayed at Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese Inn for two nights and we had room 7 which is accessed from outside the Inn, so no worries about what time you come and go. However, if we were staying directly inside the Inn then we wouldn't be coming in after closing time anyway !! Room 7 is spacious...

Stayed in a single room for £45 inc breakfast, room clean tidy and comfortable, the breakfast in the morning was very good. I decided to eat in the pub, based on my mixed grill, over priced menu for very average pub grub. Fairly sure my meat must have been cooked sometime before and re-heated, it was very rubbery and sorry...

We hadn't booked. Arrived after 5pm in Castleton and decided to find some where to stay. This pub didn't have a twin room available but offered us a double room with a pull out bed which we opted for. The room was at the back of the pub on the ground floor. Because of this it was quite dark and...

We enjoyed our stay here earlier this week. Very comfortable rooms, all well decorated. Excellent breakfast, large cooked English breakfast, as well as cereals, fruit, and toast. We ate in the pub each evening, great roast on a Sunday, we stayed to take part in the quiz. Well worth a stay if you're going to Castleton!
