We had a three night stay at the George and all the staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was particularly good with an excellent variety and selection of food. We had one dinner which was also very good. the rooms a very clean but maybe a little spartan with our TV not providing the best picture!

Stayed here only for one night with a large room overlooking the main road. We heard no noise from the road at all. This hotel is ideally located for the walks around Hathersage as well as the Derwent Dam, Mam Tor to Lose Hill ridges, Winnats Pass and all the caves of Castleton. Hathersage also sports one of the best...

A combination of very friendly efficient staff, stunning food and comfortable rooms makes this the best hotel in the Peak District. It combines the best of traditional and contemporary worlds. The personal welcome by the friendly owner is also a nice touch. Thanks for a great New Years break away.

My husband and I stayed in a superior double and had dinner in the hotel restaurant. We could not fault the room, it was clean, well decorated and very large. The ensuite was very clean with a big deluge shower and quality toiletries. The bed was firm but comfortable. All the staff we met were professional but friendly. We had...

Came here on business and stayed for 2 nights. The board room which we booked for 9 people was excellent. Plenty of space and all placed. My bedroom s also excellent. In particular, the shower was superb. The best thing about this hotel was the food. Had breakfast, buffet lunch and dinner there for 2 days and it was consistently...

Stayed here with a group of friends for a pre Christmas get together. The location was great, only 20 minutes from Chatsworth, 30 minutes from Buxton. Our rooms were all lovely and tastefully decorated. It was a nice touch to be greeted by the owner on our first night. The meals in the restaurant were lovely and they were very...

Stayed in room 8 (a lovely large double room with a huge bed) It is a lovely old country hotel, fantastically presented. The building is wonderful (check out the library in the bar area!) and full of character. The room was great with a nice bathroom. All standard amenities such as free parking, wi-fi, tea & coffee making facilities provided...

We stayed for two nights in a standard room, it was lovely, compact but not small, tastefully decorated with a comfy bed, big bath and powerful shower. Wonderful staff, all incredibly friendly and helpful. There is a large lounge with a fire and comfy sofas for chilling out with a drink. The breakfast is of a high quality with lots...
