I had high hopes for this quirky B and B. It has an AA 5 star plaque on the outside but I have no idea when that was awarded certainly not recently. At £90 per night it isn't cheap but sadly I don't think it is anyway worth that. The room we stayed in 'the solicitors room' decor was tired,...

First of all I am very sorry you didn't enjoy your stay here, I take any criticism very seriously and if there are problems or dissatisfaction I would always encourage guests to let me know while they are here as it would give me the opportunity to put things right there and then. Room décor does tend to be a...

If you are looking for a friendly comfortable quirky place to stay then look no further than The Old Lock Up. We stayed in The Solicitors room which is a lovely spacious room with a good sized clean ensuite bathroom. The room was very quiet and the bed extremely comfortable and made for a very relaxing stay. The weather was...

Definitely stay here if you're visiting the area. Tim is a fabulous host, very welcoming (delicious cake and tea on arrival) and lovely to chat to. The Old Lockup is full of interesting police memorabilia and the Magistrates room where we stayed was a lovely room. The location of the B&B is excellent, very short walk to all the main...

My wife and I booked The Old Lockup for two nights in October 2016 to do some walking with our dog. I'd spoken to Tim, the owner, via email and arranged an evening meal for the first night. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a cup of tea and slice of cake, then were shown our room (Magistrates Room). It...

Having arrived late, cold, somewhat flustered and bedraggled on our bikes and were greeted with a smile and presented with tea and cake in the lounge until our friends arrived. A perfect start to a lovely weekend stay. Friendly, helpful owner and good quality breakfast. Even had a courtyard to park the bikes although the drive is very steep and...

We have just returned from an overnight stay at this fantastic B&B. We were greeted by Tim, the owner and we had tea and cake in the sitting room which was a lovely bonus. We stayed in the Solicitors room in the main house and it ticked all our boxes: a cosy room, an extremely comfortable bed with a touch...

We booked two rooms, the magistrates room and the solicitor room. Both are in the main house. The place is in a quiet side street just off the main road, five mins walk from two pubs and a great little French restaurant. The decor is all antiques and quirky police themed knick knacks and pictures. Quite amazing. The rooms are...

We stayed for 2 nights in the solicitors room and had a lovely trip. We were greeted with tea and cake, the bed was super comfy and the breakfast was delicious. The only difficulty we had was with finding somewhere to park, but I definitely wouldn't let that put you off staying in this charming B&B.

I stayed here for three nights as I was working in the area. It is a lovely small hotel which has a lot of character, with it being an old Police Station. Tim, the owner is very welcoming and makes a lovely breakfast!
