My mother and I stayed 1 night as a stop over on the way to Scotland. We did not make a prior booking, however Barry was very welcoming and suggested a great pub (can't remember the name) to go for dinner. We had an amazing dinner, one of our best experiences in the UK. Barry made us very welcome and...

St. James House is an ancient building with an interesting history filled with the owners collection of antiques. Barry, the owner, is very talkative and was able to give us lots of information on the house and the surrounding area. The rooms are old fashioned, patterned carpets, coloured bathroom suite but everything is clean and very comfortable.

We go to Thirsk every year for my birthday and have a day at the races. We have stayed at several B&Bs over the years and due to late booking this year we found accommodation here for two couples at cheaper rates than elsewhere (on race days). Barry the owner was friendly on the phone booking and didn't require a...

Thank you for availing the room @ a last minute request. Even though we stayed for only a night but we enjoyed how homely and clean the room was. Excellent service, the best part was that it was sincere.💐 Definitely staying over the next time we visit our church Ministry in Topcliffe.👠👠 Kind Regards, Sanday Family👫

Earlier this year I had the pleasure of touring the British Isles with my family. A "must see" for my mother and my aunts and uncles was the town of Thirsk due its associations with the James Herriot books and television series. The St. James House was a quaint and charming place to stay in close proximity to the desired...
