Warm friendly welcome, comfortable accommodation and delicious food. The Old Oak Tree offers great value for money and the service went above and beyond. The only downside was that we only stayed one night! Will be looking for an excuse to go back. 😀
Nicely appointed comfortable accomodation adjacent to the main pub with tea & coffe facilities and bottled water. Good food in the bar for an evening meal. Sheep at the bottom of the pub garden also very friendly.

I don't think there are any rooms in the main pub building, but there is an annexe of about 5 or 6 rooms, each with their own front door and close to where you can park. Therefore, you can come and go as you please and this helps to make it a dog-friendly place. The room we had was self-contained and had everything you need including nice furniture, sofa, coffee table,T.V. etc. Our dog settled straight away and there is a grassy area for their early morning and late night exercise. Well behaved dogs on leads are allowed in the restaurant for breakfast and other meals. Nearby,Thirsk is a nice town to walk round with a dog...make sure you visit the World of James Herriot, but no dogs allowed in there, obviously! We enjoyed afternoon tea in the Golden Fleece in Thirsk and were allowed to take our dog in. Just be aware that the travel wardens are very keen round there and will ticket you for a second over! There are lots of lovely walks for a dog in the area and the Old Oak Tree makes a perfect base. Hope this helps.
