Food was absolutely amazing! Geisha Facials the best I've ever had. A fantastic venue to relax and unwind in peace & quiet. I highly recommend a long hot bath after dinner in the beautiful bathroom overlooking your private garden. Thankyou Catherine - we will definitely be back!

Great little experience of Japan in Victoria! We've previously been to a ryokan in Japan, and even though it's missing the typical Japanese onsen, this little place does carry all the essence of a Japanese ryokan! I would recommend anyone who hasn't been to a ryokan to try this out. It's a very pleasant experience with Japanese staff who are...

A night away with my husband was just perfect. A peaceful Japanese retreat. We were really looked after, the room was nice and quiet. The bathroom was spacious with a deep set tub for a great soak. Breakfast was delicious, and we also added on the Japanese dinner as we stayed on a Saturday night. It was a great banquet...

This really was a unique taste of the Japanese culture. My husband and I were looking for a place to really unwind and relax. The surroundings were peaceful and serene. Catherine was very accommodating and gave us what we needed. Our room, being traditional minimalist Japanese guesthouse, was really different to what we were used to but that added to...

The bedrooms are absolutely well taken care, the staff is friendly and the Japanese breakfast is definitely a "must have"! The bedrooms replicate a Japanese environment and you'll have a chance to sleep on a futon and wear a kimono, it was a different and relaxing experience!

My husband and I visited Shizuka Ryokan as we needed to relax and switch off after we had some negative news in our lives. We felt so comfortable and relaxed as soon as we walked into the retreat. The whole feel of the place just transports you to Japan and allows you to embrace the culture. The staff are all...

An excellent and authentic Ryokan experience in Victoria's spa country, great for a relaxing break if you want peace and quiet. The rooms are not large (authentically japanese) but well maintained, and both bedroom and bathroom look out on small Japanese courtyard gardens. You sleep on a futon on Tatami, so may not be suitable for those with joint problems...
