We stayed one night at the retreat and would have gladly stayed more if time allowed. Chris and Tanya could not have been more welcoming or helpful as hosts. We spent a wonderful afternoon fishing at the on-site dam and roasting marshmallows over the campfire. Highlight of the visit for the kids was meeting the resident dogs - the kids...

The most gorgeous country setting. So peaceful and pretty. Simple but with all the home comforts and with everything you could possibly need. Spotlessly clean. Perfect for a romantic holiday but great for families with kids too. Wonderful taste of the Australian countryside for overseas visitors. Keep an eye out for the owl that lives in the fence post! Loved...

We had a wonderful couple of nights at the Barking Owl, we felt miles away from anywhere but still conveniently close to Atherton, Yungaburra and is an excellent base to see all the Tablelands has to offer. The Cottages are immaculate, beautifully finished and cosy with beautiful little touches throughout. The surroundings are stunning, sitting on the deck every morning...

What a fantastic place! We had a wonderful time and felt very welcome. The cottage was well appointed - with everything you could need. The setting very private with awesome views from the spacious deck and incredibly peaceful. Tanya has a wealth of local knowledge for great walks and places to access Lake Tinaroo. We just had a great night away in a cottage at barking owl retreat. The cabins are great with everything you will ever need. Spent the afternoon trying to catch a fish in the dam. The owner Tanya gave us a great welcome and introduction. There is all types of birds and kangaroos to look out for. Thanks

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Barking Owl Retreat. It was a wonderful experience. The hosts make you feel absolutely at home and very welcome. Tanya rang before we arrived to make sure she bought exactly the food we wanted for a BBQ dinner and breakfast. The food was so fresh, delicious and healthy! The cottage itself was...

We spent 3 nights here between Christmas and New Year. Tanya was a fantastic host and only too willing to suggest great eating places and things to see. The setting of the cottage is beautiful, and the space on the deck to have a barbecue and relax with a champagne was idyllic. The accommodation was clean and had a good...

We stayed for three lovely nights at Barking Owl. Really off the beaten track – but easy to access. The cottage was immaculate, the bed was sooo comfortable and we really enjoyed a couple of BBQ's on the deck with some of the lovely Barking Owl wine – now that was a treat. Even took one away with us. Tanya...

Tanya and Chris "Thankyou". We have stayed in many B & B's on the tablelands and surrounds are you are up among the best. The wonderfully warm welcome from Tanya and of course the dogs was just a start to a wonderful weekend away for our 15th wedding anniversary. The Devils Lair was just fantastic, peaceful, private and so cosey...

My partner, 7 month old son and I booked in for two nights but immediately booked another night as soon as we opened the door to the cottage. Spotlessly clean and immaculately turned out, it's the perfect place to relax and unwind. Such good value when compared to other more expensive retreats in the area. We will definitely be back.
