I booked this motel primarily for its location, being in very close proximity to the Qantas Founders Museum (my sole purpose for visiting Longreach) and also for its strong reviews on Tripadvisor.
I should also qualify my review by stating that I normally stay in...More

Thank you for your review, we are sorry you were disappointed with your stay. Our restaurant closes for a short time over the Christmas summer period and we let all our guests know this when they book. The irons have been cleaned.
We Stayed here in October 2015, the rooms are very modest, clean and tidy. They have a lovely undercover pool area which is a delight at the end of a long hot day. They are very close to Qantas Founders Museum and Longreach Stockmans hall...More

2 days is not enough time to spend in the beautiful part of the country. But how long is enough time.....well that depends on the individual. The Stockmans Hall of Fame is great and so too is QANTAS. Spend some time at the coffee shops and meet plenty of locals. Ask if they would take you to a cattle station where you will experience the REAL bush. I was in Townsville yesterday and by chance met an old lady sitting on a park bench. She looked lonely so I spoke with her. What a surpirse!! She was not lonely, she was in Townsville with her grangchildren, all the way from Winton (which is near Longreach and worth a visit). These people have some much to tell us "City folk", it will blow your mind to listen to them as they tell teir stories of fun and laughter and sorror. They are the salt of the Earth, the Gems of the Outback, the people all of us need to meet. Please spend some time with the locals. Ask Lloyd at the Stockman's (CEO) to help you meet some locals. Hes a nice friendly fellow, or talk to Sue at the BP. I hope this helps.
