We just left from our stay at The White Oak Inn. It is a very lovely bed and breakfast and we really enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was always wonderful. You have an option of 8:30 or 9:30am breakfast time (or a continental breakfast delivered to your room). There was always an abundance of coffee, and tea as your hot drink and a good selection of juices, water or milk. The breakfast has more than enough food to fuel you for the day. You start with a dish of fresh fruit, followed by muffins straight out of the oven, and the option of a sweet or savory breakfast, or a little of both. The granola raisin muffins were amazing, and Yvonne was kind enough to share the recipe with me! The atmosphere was very welcoming.
We stayed in the main house on the 2nd floor. Our room was very nice. The TV was small, but I feel if it were any bigger, it would have taken away from the beautiful furniture and setting of the room.
IF you have to have constant internet access, the internet is the only thing to we aware of. We had enough service with the guest wifi to check email and send text messages, but you won't have a strong enough signal to do much more than that. I am in no way complaining, and I feel it allowed me and my husband the time to truly enjoy our time together and not be so distracted with our phones.
We had a wonderful experience and plan in going back.

My husband surprised me with tickets to the Ohio State Reformatory for my birthday during the weekend of the Parapsycon. I was able to pick the place we stayed in. I am so glad I found the White Oak Inn. Yvonne and Ian were such wonderful hosts and answered any questions about the area that we had. We stayed in the Acorn Cottage and it was extremely comfortable and felt like we were secluded. Wifi did not reach the cabins and it took a couple of hours to completely disconnect but once we did, we loved feeling like we were off the grid. The beds were very comfortable, the shower pressure was fabulous and the sheets were so soft. We had breakfast on Saturday and Sunday as well as dinner on Saturday night, and the food was to die for. Yvonna is a chef and you can tell she puts the time and love into each dish she makes. Their pup is so friendly and relaxed. We were even able to see a glimpse of their kitty. Before we left on Sunday, we were in the works of coming back.

A beautiful 1.5 hour drive from Columbus sits this stunningly historic inn. We arrived on a Tuesday evening, knocked at the door and Ian answered immediately. Upon entry, we quickly smelled chocolate chip cookies that must have been fresh out of the oven. Ian showed us to our room- The Walnut and it was quaint and perfect for a quick stay. The king size bed was very comfortable and had the most luxurious sheets - which we learned you can actually purchase sets of. The room had a few small night stands, sitting area, small tv with DVD player and an en suite bathroom. The bathroom was small but had all of the amenities you would need - including grapefruit scented hand soap. Cell phone service was very spotty but the inn does have free WiFi so that helped a bit. This didn’t matter to us as we quickly made the jaunt into town to grab a bottle of wine for dinner (you can bring your own and Ian/Yvonne will gladly serve at dinner) and headed back to enjoy the most delicious meal.
All guests met in the formal living room just prior to dinner service and were presented the menu by Ian. We each chose our entree and took our seats for dinner. This four course meal far exceeded any expectations we had prior to our stay. After wine/drink service, we enjoyed bread and zucchini and curry soup. It was light, refreshing and the flavor of the curry was not overpowering. The salad was a spring mix with candied pecans, feta, apples, cranberries and a vinaigrette that was a beautiful addition. For our main course, we both opted to have the salmon with pineapple salsa, served with potatoes and asparagus/carrots. Lastly, the dessert was a homemade chocolate and apricot torte. After dinner, Ian and Yvonne joined us at the table to share history of the inn and swap stories. This was unexpected, but kind and so welcomed. Yvonne and Ian are the most gracious hosts and their animals were a joy to have around.
We awoke to the smell of Yvonne making Breakfast the next morning. As we prepared to check out, we sat down with the other guests for the meal. A fruit plate to start with homemade banana date muffins (still warm in the basket) and a split plate of a Spanish torte and almond croissant French toast. We certainly did not go hungry.
Do not pass up this off the beaten path destination. Ian and Yvonne make you feel as though you are at home. It would be great for couples visiting Amish country or a weekend girls shopping trip. And because the accommodations are plentiful with the cabins and guest house, this could easily host wedding guests or a bridal party.
Don’t forget to grab one of Yvonne’s recipe books on your way out! A big thank you to the both of them for making this such an enjoyable stay.

Response from Woiyvonne, Owner at The White Oak Inn
Responded 9 Mar 2020
Thank you so much for the lovely and detailed review! We like to describe coming to our inn as escaping to the middle of everywhere! We're working on getting that cell service upgraded and hope to have good news on that front soon.

The Inn is set on a very quiet road with pleasant views across a river and fields with hills in the distance and is several miles away from town and services. Owners Yvonne and Ian seem like nice people and answered our questions. We stayed in the main house in the Walnut room. The bedroom as well as common rooms were very clean and neat. Extra towels, sheets, blankets were available in a cupboard in the hallway outside our room. There is a very small shared frig in the hallway for use by all guests. VERY small TV screen in our room (too small to watch from the bed). Room size was adequate but seating was not comfortable. Bathroom was adequate but quite cramped. Bed was too soft for our comfort. Nice to be able to sit in the downstairs living room to read. We were able to reschedule the time for our basket dinner to 6:30 instead of 7 and we were permitted to eat our basket dinner in the dining room. Fruit and cheese plate for another evening were very convenient and ready when promised. Breakfast at 8:30 was served about 8:45 both mornings. Food was good. Sadly, coffee wasn't ready until about 8:15, and there is no other way to get/make coffee or tea (unless we drove somewhere to get it). Suggest adding a coffee machine so guests can make their own when they want it. Overall I would classify the White Oak Inn as a clean, quiet, no-frills B&B.

Not at all what we expected. The rug was worn out in places, and the room felt shoddy, old linoleum on the bathroom floor, fixtures and shower were dated. There was not full wifi in the main house (none in the cottage). Couldn't make calls out. The breakfast was good. We left after one night after having reserved and paid for two, in spite of losing a lot. The room was advertised and priced as if it were a more up to date.

Bought the weekend one-night package with dinner included. All meals were delicious and hosts were accommodating to any dietary restrictions. Comfortable and clean. Was really impressed with their Covid protocol. Two things to be aware of: 1) There is a dog and cat that live in property (this was a bonus for me, but I imagine an issue if you’re allergic) 2) I could get no cell reception (again, for me this was a perk and forced me to step away from work!) would highly recommend for those who are trying to get away from the daily grind!

My instinct told me this wasn't going well with the first phone call but sorry to say, I didn't listen. First impression is so important and for us it didn't go well. The smell was very obvious as we stepped through the door and it only got worse as we settled in our room, it was bad enough I wondered if we could endure, we say the room smelled like a dirty old cat litter box. We opened 3 windows and turned on 2 fans but that didn't remove the smell. The room was extremely small with just barely a walk around the bed, one hard chair was available, and we had to search the hall for another chair which made the room even tighter. Our impression is the host are tired and should retire, they were not welcoming or gracious and we felt like intruders and if we asked for something we felt we were being rude guest. The bedroom wasn't vacuumed well and the hallway and stairs were very dirty, plus we can only imagine the dog and cat hair as the animals wondered around the dining room and other areas. I would definitely say the food was not worth the value either! Do not expect any wifi in your rooms and very little in the main room. Leave your smart phone in the vehicles! Needless to say we were very happy to be on our way and do not plan to return, We're very experienced at B&B but no thank you on White Oak Inn.

We just stayed with some friends and it was amazing as usual. The place is just so cozy feeling, the Innkeepers are the best ever. When they get done if you want they will sit and talk with you, share some wine. We have gone at least 8 times for sure and we are never disappointed other than its time to go home. I would highly recommend it to any couple who wants to get away and really be pampered. The food is just totally awesome. Of course if you don't want to hang around the Inn there is wineries, Amish country and much more to do. They will gladly tell you where things are and how to get there. It is the BEST ever!!!!

Went to the White Oak Inn to celebrate our 50th anniversary. It was as usual amazing. Yvonne & Ian are wonderful innkeepers. They make you feel more like family. It is always so relaxing, clean atmosphere. Of course, Yvonne is a gourmet chef and her breakfast and dinners are simply wonderful. You can't find a better spot for a celebration or just to get away. You can visit to the wineries, Amish places, hike to a beautiful water fall or simply just stay at the inn and relax. We have been numerous times and already planning another trip.

Had a GF weekend at that last minute....needless to say spur of the moment. We had a wonderful time at the Inn. We arrived late evening and were greeted enthusiastically with smell of warm bread and a big smile. The inn absolutely lovely and the home cooking was superb! Cant wait to go again.
