Stayed at Travellers Rest for one night while walking the Kerry Way. This is a small and quite basic hostel but it does have character and it is very well situated for walkers. There isn't much at Caherdaniel - there is a small shop with basics, there is a decent pub (O'Leary's) with good food and there is Travellers Rest...

I stayed two nights in May whilst on a cycle tour. Great base for a day trip to Derrynane and the beaches. Lovely outside seating. I self-catered using the shop attached to Freddie's Bar. The hostel is spotless and has everything the independent walker or cyclist needs.

Very cute and clean hostel. The owner Eileen was very friendly. I stayed in a private double room. Bed was comfy only issue was it was on ground floor so could hear everyone getting up and showering. Otherwise I highly recommend this hostel.free tea and coffee too! Right in village centre with fantastic walks around. It had a lovely large...

We stayed in Travellers Rest after a long day cycling from Kenmare to Caherdaniel and found it to be warm, friendly and very clean. We paid 21 euro each--same as in all other hostels around the Ring of Kerry--for a twin room with shared bathroom. The beds were perfect, the room clean and cheerful. There is a pub with great...

Now, I've stayed here many times on cycling and walking adventures and have always loved it. I was booked into stay on a stop over of the kerry way. We were very late coming down off the mountain and the owner rang 3 times and waited up to make sure we were safe and got in Ok. Not once did...

After a long walk we've reached the hostel. It's interior is nicely arranged and very homely. Plenty of light in most rooms, a good kitchen, some benches and a table at the back of the house. Around the corner are a shop and the Blind Piper, a really awesome pub. So I can't think of any reason not to stay...

After walking 30km via the inland route between Waterville and Caherdaniel, we were absolutely exhausted and were hoping Travellers Rest would be fine. It was way better than expected. It is one of the cleanest hostels I have ever come across, the dining room feels homey and cosy, the kitchen is big enough and functional, there is a table at...

This was one of my favourite hostels of my trip in Ireland. It is located in a stunning area on the Ring of Kerry and has a really nice homely feel to it. If no one is in when you arrive you go to the garage (very old and out of use now I think!) opposite where the owner lives....

Great for cyclists/backpackers on cheap travelling. Storage area for bikes. Cosy lounge/rest area, good kitchen. Make sure you bring you own towel as they are not provided. Small and expensive shop 100m from the hostel.
