#2 of 7 hotels in Longyearbyen
Travellers' Choice
Welcome to Svalbard Hotell Polfareren, a boutique-hotel centrally located in Longyearbyen. In line with Svalbard’s distinctiveness and snug charm, the hotel boasts a rustic and informal atmosphere. We offer high-standard service and culinary experiences in the heart of town. It was the young Norwegian explorer Eivind Astrup (1871-1895) who provided inspiration for the hotel, which was completed on the 1 st of February 2016. Key words such as rustic, timeless and robust were guiding values for the design of the hotel, in order to reflect Astrup, who is the youngest recipient of the Order of St. Olav. Our lounge has a polar library, refreshments in the bar and a relaxing atmosphere for you to find peace and spend some time to socialize, or just reflect upon your day. The reception is staffed around the clock to ensure our guests a memorable stay, and our staff will gladly assist you in organising your experiences of Svalbard. Polfareren is also a certified eco-lighthouse, and its two buildings consist of 49 rooms.

The hotel is perfectly located (everything is within a short walking distance) and it is in a very quiet location. In most of the rooms you have a view of some mountains. The WLAN is superfast. The beds are very comfortable and you sleep very well in them. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Special mention should be made of 2 staff members at the reception: David, with his booking magical skills, conjured up a perfect solution for us and Marta we have to thank for the fact that we saw the Northern Lights (her tips were priceless). Breakfast is good (but not exceptional - it would need more homemade products). We were superhappy with the hotel!

We loved this hotel right in the middle of Longyearbyen. The hotel is very new and modern. The rooms are not huge, but the beds are fantastic and the lounge area around the fireplace is really nice to relax with coffee or a beer. The breakfast buffet was exceptional and the dinner served in the restaurant very good. We would like to have more/better selection of wines, beers and soft drinks from the bar. Regular beer (not microbrew) and just plain CocaCola is something we missed!!

Having just returned from Svalbard where we arrived just at the wrong time and a few hours after getting there was put in quarantine for the whole four day visit. The four days were spent inside of the hotel. It’s a nice place. Bedrooms quite spacious with bathroom and tv. The hotel itself was really clean and the food, we had breakfast and evening meal was nice and tasty as well. Thanks must go to the staff who were so nice. They could not do enough to help us knowing the predicament we were in and they made the four days inside bearable. A big thank you to you all.

Very please that we chose this hotel, it was extremely comfortable and we were happy here whether it relaxing in our room or down stairs in front of the fire. The staff were friendly. We were on the first floor in the main building, not too sure if I would have enjoyed it so much if we were in a room across the room. Great location. Loved it and hope to return one day
