My husband, our 2 dogs and I stayed here for a long weekend. The staff were excellent and always friendly. The food was lovely and the rooms clean and comfortable with a wonderful sea view. Our 2 dogs were welcome almost everywhere and the walking straight from the hotel was superb! Would definitely visit again.

Found this place by searching for Doggie Friendly accommodation in Suffolk. Did we find one! Brilliant - & a perfect place for us & for Rufus the pug/Frenchie. We stayed for two nights and we were in one of the rooms at the very top in the eaves. The bedroom was spacious and clean with a great power shower en-suite. The staff were extremely friendly and what was also really good was that they catered to my gluten free diet and had toast for my breakfast each morning....

Popped in here for a meal as we were staying at a campsite down the road (Haw Wood Farm) and the owner recommended it to us. Lovely little place! Very cosy with the fire going. Our food was lovely, the mash that came with my sausages was quite hard and dry so I can only assume it had been microwaved,...

We have stayed there before and have nothing but praise for the location the staff and the food. We stayed this time with a group of friends and they couldnt have been more accomodating. They set our own private dining room for breakfast & dinner and nothing was too much effort. The rooms and food are both superb and overall...

We stayed at the Ship for one night and were put up in one of the rooms in the converted barn. The bedroom was very spacious, as was the bathroom. Everything was spotless - very impressive. We had dinner in the restaurant; the menu was interesting and the quality excellent. Breakfast was very good too. The only slight niggles were...

Spent a couple of nights here last weekend with our Chocolate Lab. Good clean room with direct access from the Car Park which was ideal with the dog. Made to feel welcome by all staff and 'meggie' was allowed in the bar and most dining areas which made things very easy for us. She even got her own sausage for...

our hotel room was warm and comfortable and perfect for us and our greyhound. straight off the car park, so no traipsing through the hotel with muddy paws, and lots of room so we could all stretch out. the service was excellent and very friendly, and the food was fresh and tasty and used lots of local produce. Breakfast offered...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Once a haunt of smugglers, The Ship Inn isn't just a great place to eat, drink, relax and get away from it all – we like to think it's also part of a great story. Now a quiet, idyllic village surrounded by nature reserves, heathland and beach, only the romantic ruins of Dunwich monastery remain to hint at the fate of this once thriving medieval port claimed by the waves during a terrible storm. It's said you can still hear the peal of the church bells beneath the waves. While we can't guarantee that, there are certain, more earthly things we're always happy to provide… real ales, real food and a real fire. You will find: a great pub, home-cooked food in our restaurant, a cosy hotel with comfortable, traditionally furnished bedrooms, some with views across the sea or marshes. There is also an enormous garden dotted with fruit trees (including our 300 year old fig tree) and a beach that really is just a couple of minutes walk away. Whether you want to use it as a base to explore this wild and wonderful coastline, enjoy some of the best fish and chips on the Suffolk coast or simply indulge in a pint or two of Adnams, The Ship Inn at Dunwich extends the warmest of welcomes. ... more   less
