This is a great little pub ...really fast service and friendly staff ... The fish finger sandwich ..delicious..nicely dressed salad an beautifully fried sweet potato chips .A very tasty combination... With some great real ale too!

I have been to this pub twice recently once during the day 3 weeks ago on a walk for lunchtime fish finger sandwich which was very good and last night saturday foe dinner with friends which quiet frankly was a disaster. We were at the same family gathering and can only agree with the other review! The Anchor is a PROPER pub, with a wonderful atmosphere, friendly and efficient staff and excellent food......well done!!

We took the room at the back for 26 people and had a wonderful lunch. Great service, delicious food and wine and the efficient and friendly staff helped make it a hugely successful event. Highly recommend a visit.

We had just been for a long walk in the Ashdown Forest with our three small children and were looking for somewhere to have a nice rest and Sunday lunch. Lovely clean and comfortable room Would definitely recommend and stay again . Breakfast was hot and plentiful, the pub was very welcoming There is locally plenty to see and do With stunning views of the Ashdown forest within a stones throw

Husband and I visited the Anchor early October 15. Love the pub, the food and my favourite bit the massive comfortable bed. Staff lovely and obliging. Lovely 14th century building. Old beams. Dogs allowed in the bar. Nice beer. Good gin. Very tasty food. Can't rate it any higher. Going back early December

We stayed at The Anchor for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. A genuine 500 year old pub with friendly staff and locals gives a taste of English village life, surrounded by beautiful countryside. The pretty village of Hartfield is on the edge of the Ashdown forest with country walks at the doorstep. The food was very good, and the...

Warm and friendly people, a 15th century pub, the most amazing bed, and great food and Ales. We were a family of 3 [ 2 adults and a child ]. We highly recommend The Anchor.....do yourself a favour and stay there! Shaun and Anna
