I came here on Sunday with my husband as a treat because i couldn`t be bothered to cook! I haven`t been here for a few years and fancied somewhere other than the local pub. It is more beautiful than i remembered, it has bags of charm, lovely old beams and a roaring open fire! It was very busy but that...

We decided to try the Bull based on a recommendation of a friend. I think the rating I have given is fair based on the experience and food we had. We came for a drink the day before to have a look at the place and it is a lovely old pub with bags of character. I ordered a lager...

Went to have lunch at the Bull today and found ourselves sat outside a toilet with no room for customers to pass to get into toilet without knocking the back of our chairs, when asked if we could move onto an empty table the waitress advised us that if we didn't want to sit at our table she could sell...

We had Sunday lunch here and the staff were very friendly and polite. It's a popular little place. I would advise booking a table if you can before you arrive. We just turned up and were extremely lucky. Would definitely go back.

Friendly & attentive staff, cosy ambiance with large fire when it's cold and a great menu to suit everyone. Sitting outside on a sunny day is the best. An Inn, steeped in history. Not difficult to make it back on numerous occasions.

I stayed here for two nights while walking in the area. The Bull seems to have four bedrooms but I don't think anyone else was staying while I was there. The room I was in (no.4) was medium size and overlooked the front of the property. It was comfortable and reasonably clean. There was a little noise from folks leaving...

Enjoyed a great meal on what Was supposed to be a quiet Tuesday evening. However the restaurant was almost full and the two waitresses worked their socks off to serve everyone with hot hearty food as well as running the bar.Excellent value for money

Visited here on a busy Saturday evening with family. The pub is cosy and nicely set out. As a Coeliac, I have a gluten intolerance, which I explained to the waitress on arrival. Their menu did not list the allergens on it, nor did they have a separate menu, which included what I could, or could not eat. The waitress...

We used to live in nearby Flimwell in the 1990s and the Bull was our favourite local pub. This week we stayed in a local hotel and paid a visit to the Bull as part of our journey down memory lane. The day was sunny and the pub was looking at its best but it was cold outside on our...

Invited to a 50th birthday lunchtime do - 25 of us including three little ones. Incredible service despite also being busy with other bookings we had noticed as we walked through the pub. Excellent roast chicken (half a chicken) and incredible quantity of accompanying vegetables served in large bowls so you could have as much or as little to accompany...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Bull Inn was built between 1385 and 1425 and is reputed to be one of the oldest dwelling places in the country, but only became a pub towards the end of the 19th century. Set in 4 acres of rolling Sussex countryside, and within easy walking distance of beautiful Bewl Water, the Bull is very popular with walkers, cyclists and fishermen. A magnificent ancient building in a secluded location, the Inn has a wealth of old beams, low ceilings and quarry tiled floors that give it a real air of the traditional English Country pub. ... more   less
