We were so disappointed with our dinner. On arrival no decorations, except an old Christmas tree that had seen better days in the bar area. We had to order our food in advance, which was fine. We were told needed to be seated 30mins before our meal. Again fine, except food pre-cooked then reheated. Looked and tasted awful. When we...

Came back to Essex for the night at a friends party. Booked in at the Kiln, spoke with them twice and on both occasions they were extremely helpful. We arrived early on New Year's Eve and managed to check in early with the help of the lovely receptionist. Had a nice room in the stables area as the hotel was...

Well on approach to the hotel unfortunately this beautiful hotel is hidden until you are driving and come along a sign to turn in. It has grade 3 listed features and beautiful setting out front so a lot of time and effort has been adopted to keep original looks. We had a room on the barn area and how cute...

This is the second time I have stayed here and each time has been nice. The staff is accommodating and the location is very quite. They also have a nice little restaurant that serves good food. The rooms are small with little to offer with amenities, however it gets the job done in this rural area. I particularly like the...

I have stayed at this hotel regularly over the past year. I have found the staff to be attentive, efficient, very customer orientated an friendly. During my recent visit, the evening was spoiled by a couple preparing for a wedding the next day. They were rude to the staff, disorganised and not very pleasant. If this had been my hotel,...

We came to the Kilns Hotel for afternoon tea as a birthday present to my sister. The experience was not unpleasant, but just fairly average all in all. The scones were definitely the highlight of the meal, they were fresh and tasty with a nice assortment of jams. The sandwiches were fine, however it would have been nice to have...

We stayed here for one night as had a wedding near. The hotel is small and feels family run. We liked it's homely feel. We stayed in a room which appears to have been converted from outbuildings so was not in the main house. The room was right off the car park which made our trip home in the dark...

We had a long weekend in Brentwood and booked this hotel, as from the photos and re views looked lovely. We went for an executive room and this was nothing special, the room was not clean at all, very dusty, marks in the bathroom which have been left and not clean. The rooms could do with a good clean and...

From the reading the reviews and pictures you'd think this would be an amazing little boutique hotel. I originally booked the executive room as it was only a few pounds more. But as we were bringing a dog with us we were asked to rebook a standard room. The hotel is situated on a busy road and takes away some...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Originally built Circa 16th century, The Kilns Hotel is a classical Grade II listed Queen Anne’s building having undergone many period changes over the years. A favorite with business travelers and people visiting friends or just Brentwood. The hotel retains much of its original charm and character. However, much of its period features have been lost over time but has now evolved into an extremely comfortable, modern and contemporary style petite hotel with an air of sophistication, rarely found outside central London.During your stay, you can experience our excellent food and selection of fine wines while dining at The White Napkin Restaurant and Bar (Essex Food & Drink Awards 2010/11 finalists) which can be used by our residents, and is open to non-residents. ... more   less
