We haven't been to this pub for several years until this lunchtime. My wife and I enjoyed their pensioners lunch deal - gammon, pineapple, egg, chips and peas at £7 each. Great value. Staff pleasant and good service. Plenty of selection on the menu. We will be returning.

The food was ok, nothing special though. The guy who took our order was not the friendliest and didn't want to really accommodate a simple request (let us order starters and keep the menu while waiting for them so we could have more time choosing mains) because it could 'confuse the chef'. Shame.

Been here before and had lovely food and usually staff are great. On this occasion bar maid called Stacey or similar was incredibly rude and abusive to a customer inside and then outside. Totally unprofessional. Needs some manners and public service training.

Have just visited the crown hotel and were very pleased with the service and food quality. Sirloin steak and chicken burger were ordered and cooked to perfection. I would not hesitate to recommend to all my family and friends. Good work. Will see you soon.

We have been there a number of times for lunch. The menu has changed over the years but is varied, reasonably priced and always served quickly and cheerfully. All the pub standards are there as well as some local specialities. They keep a good pint too and have a decent wine list which is not over priced.

Food and service were perfect. Served in perfect time, piping hot and well presented. Friendly staff and a warm atmosphere made for a fabulous Friday night dinner for two. Will be coming back next week and the week after that and the week after that...

Surprisingly outstanding food, considering this is an unassuming non-gastro pub on the high street. Have had the calves liver twice; on both occasions very good; on the second occasion (head chef apparently) it was exceptional, especially for the price (£11.50). Atmosphere is nothing to write home about, but friendly staff and quick, attentive service. Loved it!

Probably the best Sunday lunch I have had. I could not fault my lunch. Beef, roast potatoes, new potatoes, large crispy Yorkshire pudding, multicoloured carrots!, greens and a wonderfully rich gravy. Really enjoyed it. Was too full to enjoy the two courses pudding offer.

I'm reviewing our last three visits here - to cover as much as I can in one go. the first time was in October - lunch - first call at 12:15 - had the cod and chips and the crispy cackling pork - both excellent. The only criticism was that chef puts the apple sauce onto the pork and it...
