#8 of 30 B&Bs / Inns in Southend-on-Sea
The Hope Hotel is situated on the seafront, right across the road from the beach, the world's longest pier and theme park "Adventure Island". It is 5 minutes from the High Street and shopping centre with plenty of carparks. The Hope Hotel's rooms offer beautiful sea views with home cooked breakfast included in the price. The restaurant is open all day and closes over the winter months. We also offer 10 en suite bedrooms in two guest houses in the next road only three minutes away. Most of these rooms have a fridge, wi fi and Sky TV all included in the booking price. These rooms do not have a sea view but offer a quiet peaceful setting.

Friendly helpful staff, clean rooms, great breakfast. Slap bang in middle of seafront what more could you want. Thanks for making mine and grandsons stay a welcome one. Would definitely stay again. 👌

We were a little apprehensive when coming here because of a handful of dubious reviews but couldn’t have been more pleasantly surprised. Everyone from the woman at reception who checked us in and also personally walked us to our room in a separate annex just down the road to the bar manager who gave us drinks on the house just because they wasn’t able to quite fulfil our need for an early check in. (Which we requested but genuinely didn’t expect anyway) But most unbelievable of all………..when the local cab company let us down, the owner himself, a man originally from Malta called George I believe, drove us to our function in Leigh-on-sea himself, refusing point blank to accept any money. While I guess this is fundamentally a ‘budget’ hotel, I can’t imagine you’d get more attentive service from far higher rated hotels anywhere. Thank you for everything, we’re so appreciative

The owner was very drunk and starting fights. I would advise everyone to stay away as all the staff are under the influence. Nice pub, but management is lacking in the worse possible way. We left and went across the road to the cornucopia who was much more accommodating and a better crowd. George thie licensee holder was more drunk than the customers. Definitely would not return.

After an issue with the online booking due to Expedia over booking rooms, I was pleasantly surprised how John went above and beyond to help us out. He managed to find us room in another hotel even though all hotels were booked up for the evening. We appreciated the help so much we stayed the night after to which we were very well looked after. The hotel itself is lively and central located on the sea front. Definitely more those of us looking for a party and lively weekend. It is good for the price, clean and the breakfast was delicious. I probably would not recommend it for families in the main building just because the bar does get busy and it is more of that group atmosphere. The bar also has outside seating and a pool table which was perfect for us. The staff were amazing, lots of character, with customer service being excellent. After what has been a disastrous year for the hospitality industry, where customer service in many places has not returned to its former glory, it was so refreshing to finally see a business who had not forgotten that people spend their hard earned cash to go somewhere they feel appreciated. We were two women looking to escape a stressful week, and due to the online system of Expedia the whole weekend could have turned into a complete disaster but due to John's dedication to finding us a room it turned out to be an amazing weekend. The staff and service restored our hope in humanity. We both left feeling as you should when returning home from holiday. If we return to Southend The Hope Hotel will always be our first option now. Thank you.
