#8 of 20 hotels in Southend-on-Sea
The Last Post has been established in Southend since 1995. Originally the city’s post office and now proud to offer 14 en suite rooms, with a choice of twins, doubles or family rooms, all boasting digital temperature control, free unlimited Wi-Fi and Freeview television. We also have interconnecting rooms for larger families; however, unfortunately we do not have rooms for those with disabilities or lift access at our hotel. Southend is a vibrant seaside town on the south of the Essex coastline at the edge of the Thames estuary. The town caters for all, whether it’s shopping on the busy high street, a day out with the family at Adventure Island, a night on the town in the clubs and bars or just a lazy walk along the longest pier in England. The hotel is just a stone’s throw from High Street and only a five-minute walk from the seafront, pier and Adventure Island Park.

Usually stay here when in town and love it. This time we are in town due to a very sad event. Ask for a room with a bath and say we are here for a funeral and flat clearing. Get given tiny, dingy room that smells. Ask for a room change but nothing can be done. So disappointed. Will no longer stay here as it’s now very stressful.

Stayed for 1 night and we were pleasantly surprised at how good the rooms were. Loved the decor, clean and tidy. Shower was great and such a good price. The Hotel is in a great position, close to the shops and the beach.

Awful! Breakfast was cold, undercooked and missing items. Decided during our trip to Southend that we would return in the evening for drinks (despite awful breakfast) and in our mid 30s we were asked for ID…. Erm really? Seeing people under age in the pub also who didn’t produce ID made me question whether we didn’t look “local” for the pub! Sign of awful breakfast shouldn’t have attempted to return for even a drink!

Very Good Breakfast! Rooms Were Amazing! Housekeeping Did A Really Good Job But One Problem Is That We Were On The Highest Floor So The WiFi Was A Bit Slow And Took A Long Time To Load Stuff Overall Staff Were Very Very Friendly. And Near A Shopping Centre Which Was Good! And Somewhat Near The Beach!

We were on a day trip to Southend and as we like Wetherspoons we thought we would go there for lunch. We arrived and responsibly placed our order via the app (as recommended) at 2pm. 20 Minutes later our food arrived but we had still not received our drinks. We spoke to the waiting staff three times to see where our drinks were only to be told that there was a delay with the drinks. Having asked to speak to someone more senior we were told everyone was busy. Our drinks finally arrived 40 minutes after the order was placed and after we had finished our meal. We had our drinks and left. When we got home we contacted Wetherspoons via their website to say how disappointed we were only to receive a reply saying that basically we should have spoken to the manager while we were there - oh if only they hadn't been to busy to assist. Such poor customer service all around by Wetherspoons. If you are in Southend on Sea find somewhere else for lunch.
