I stopped for a hot drink and a meal, hot chocolate was like warm 🙁, food was great. I then asked if I could get a HOT chocolate this time as the previous one was very like warm, I was told sure, and was then charged for a second hot drink, I think this was very wrong to be charged for the ‘non hot chocolate’.

Dear BESYSTEMS Thank you for your review and we appreciate your patronage. I am disappointed to read that our lounge bar associate did not read the cue when you ordered your second hot chocolate. Providing a great hot chocolate with our compliments and served with a smile would have made this visit to our hotel more memorable for the right reasons rather than for the one described above. I was however pleased to read that you found our food offerings to your liking and shall share your kind comments with our kitchen team, who will be equally pleased. We hope that we will have the opportunity to welcoming you again to our hotel in the future and be able to provide an even better experience.

Could not fault staff customer service & breakfast was wonderful albeit no room service for breakfast in bed available. Hotel is in need of modernisation, our room was very basic more like a travel lodge with an old shower curtain in the bathroom & smelt. I would not rate a 4* more like 2* very disappointed Marriott Hotels. I’ve stayed at many before but not sure I trust the images on your website of accommodation again. I also asked at time of booking to make it special on arrival as it was my best friend’s birthday. We received two small bottles of water and a jar of chocolate peanuts plus swan towels and rose petals on our bed. I would laugh but standard of room it’s not comical

DearmariawE1783MN Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience while staying with us. Providing the highest level of hospitality is our number one priority and I sincerely apologize for failing to meet your expectations entirely. Your valuable feedback helps identify areas of opportunity for us to improve the guest experience. While I am pleased to read that you overall enjoyed the service provided by the team and our Marriott Buffet breakfast here at the hotel, I was disappointed to read that certain aspects such as the current decor did not meet your expectations entirely and please be rest assured that we will further review your comments regarding the decor as much as the currently limited room service on the weekends and implement possible improvements. Once again, thank you for your valued feedback and we hope to serve you again whenever your travels bring you back to Essex I hope you choose to stay with us again when your travels bring you back to the area.

Currently staying here. Tv doesn’t work properly, telephone doesn’t work, old food and containers left out in hallways. Currently really irritated because we asked for room service on our own phones (just a simple jug of water) an hour and a half ago. Still not arrived. Rang receptionist 45 mins ago and was told it’s on its way. Still not here. Apparently it’s very busy though I doubt that because when we went for dinner the place was dead. Avoid. Just awful.

We booked this hotel after our original hotel cancelled our booking because of staff storage. We booked 2 rooms one for my husband and myself and the other for my brother and his wife (it was their wedding night). The bedrooms looked really nice and clean, HOWEVER after quickly getting dressed to make the long drive back to North Yorkshire to our children, we didn’t realise that I had been bitten a number of times! The itching is uncomfortable to say the least!! I have called the hotel to let them know of the situation and for them to take action, however I was told to just write in and they will look at it then. We can’t believe it! They are not willing to help and stop others from getting bitten. We spent over £500 on both rooms for 1 night! I will not use this place again! And as we have family around the area I will make them aware of this as well.

Dear D9411VOstaceym Thank you for sharing your experiences following your recent stay with us here at Waltham Abbey. Our commitment to clean involves a very robust checking of all rooms prior to arrival as well as a rigorous process when servicing a room covering cleanliness and inspecting all aspects of the room including all furniture i.e. the bed and its different layers. Whilst I am sorry to hear that you have been bitten, I am pleased to confirm that no evidence was found in the room or for that matter in and around the bed that suggests the alleged bites were caused by anything in the room. The hotel did not receive any further comments either from guests that stayed in any of the two rooms after your visit. Thank you again for your feedback and staying with us in these unusual times.

Not the greatest hotel. Very basic. Not the best standard. Firstly we are charged a £50 holding deposit upon check in, which we where not informed of when booking. This is taken straight away from your card. But takes 5/7 days to receive back after realised from the hotel. They certainly don’t like to give back as quickly as they like to take!!! No one had masks on!! Very uncovid friendly. Now I’m aware we aren’t required anymore to wear them but you’d think a bit establishment such as this would be more cautious!! We received our key card, after being informed someone had already checked in under our name and paid for our room. We get the the room at 2am after a long late night and the key card didn’t work. 3 times we had to go back to reception and eventually they came to the room with there master key which also failed so we had to wait another 10 mins with no room while they found us another room. Breakfast we nice, again, not COVID friendly. No one wearing masks, no one wiping down the lids the food was under - so many people where touching these to life up and down and not one person wiped over them. The same with the taps on the juices. A huge possibly to spreading COVID could easily be a breading spot here!! Service changers where taken on every aspect of the stay, they bring a drink to the table - they charger a service charge. They bring a meal to the table - they charge a service charge. They are definitely trying to squeeze every penny that they can form there guests! Overall we where not impressed!!

Dear Mobile55303243670 Thank you for your feedback following your recent stay here at the Waltham Abbey Marriott Hotel. All our bookings - coming directly via Marriott.com or any other booking platform such as Booking.com - are informed via a pre arrival e mail that a deposit will be taken on arrival for the guest to be able to sign for any incidental they may have during their stay. Furthermore, we advise our guests that it will take up to 5 working days after check out for the money to be re-credited to their account, which is the time it takes the guests bank to process the refund, not the hotel. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience caused due to the bedroom door lock malfunctioning and the time it took to provide an alternative room. I appreciate your kind comments about the quality of the breakfast and would like to rest assure you that our commitment to clean and to provide a safe environment in these unusual times is of utmost importance and it is regrettable that you perceived our current processes not to be as evident as they should be and I have shared your observations with the team for further review and subsequent actions. A discretionary service charge, which is distributed wholly to the team, and mentioned in our menus is applied in our Food and Beverage outlets and if requested can be taken off at anytime. I am sorry if this has not been made clearer on the menus. Once again thank you for your feedback and staying with us in these unprecedented times.
