I attended an afternoon tea. It was disappointing. It was a special tea, Coronation Tea, that we were not expecting and more costly. There was a clear lack of communication between the staff answering phone requests and the restaurant staff. A message to avoid mushroom sandwiches and 'fake' meat was not passed on. It was very embarrassing for the restaurant staff, who did their best to rectify things. It was awkward and made us feel uncomfortable; no one likes to complain. The chef made a real effort to supply fresh vegetarian sandwiches but it took ages and by the time they arrived most people had left the afternoon tea room. The tableware and china was lovely and replaced frequently throughout the tea. All extras were charged for such as £5 for a can of coke Zero plus a hefty service charge was added on; be ready for that. I think the sandwiches need to simpler.... cheese and pickle or egg mayo. In my opinion, the cakes need to be less fancy and a little more traditional. It wasn't for me.

Unfortunately this was an afternoon tea to forget. This was supposed to be a birthday celebration for myself and my mum but it felt far from that. The day before we phoned up and notified them that we were all vegetarians. We specifically said NO MUSHROOM sandwiches as we had an afternoon tea somewhere else where they served up cold mushroom sandwiches that made us feel sick. We had a a laugh and joke on the phone with the woman and she said ‘I’ve never heard of a cold mushroom sandwich before’. She confirmed we would not be served any cold mushroom sandwiches. We turned up and were shown to our table, the room was busy but was quiet and awkward. No music was playing and people were just sat in silence. The lady gave us our menus but we already new what we were having after having a quick glance. 30 minutes later she took our order. I ordered tap water and she asked me still or sparkling. This was confusing as obviously tap water is still. When the drinks came to our table the lady gave us a bottle of water which I thought was strange and just thought maybe that’s how they present their water. But no, we were charged £5 for that bottle when I requested tap water which is free. Then the sandwiches were brought out and we were in absolute shock. A cold mushroom sandwich was on our plates. We mentioned it to the staff and they were apologetic. They took them away with the olive sandwich as well, as that also tasted revolting. A few minutes later they brought out a random selection of sandwiches including, jam, honey and butter, egg and cucumber. We thought this was a little strange but we didn’t want to complain anymore. About 30 minutes later they brought out more sandwiches with other fillings. By this time we were ready for our sweet treats. A while later the sweet treats arrived. We were all extremely disappointed with these too. We did not eat many of them and boxed most of them up. We did not eat them when we went home, unfortunately, they went in the bin. They had weird flavours and textures. The scones were dry and tasteless and a lemon and poppyseed cake was also given to us after scones. The cake had an odd texture and was as dry as a bone. Then the bill was presented to us. We were in shock with the 15% service charge which was added on and we felt we could not remove that at the time. We were also upset that we had been charged £5 for the water but we just wanted to get out of there asap and go home. Overall this was disappointing and I would not come here again. I have advised my friend to cancel her booking in the summer. This is overpriced for what it is, I have had better afternoon teas for half of the price! £60 per person is outrageous when we didn’t even have any alcohol either

Came for afternoon tea for my daughters hen party, it was organised by her friends. The setting was lovely with a harpist playing. Unfortunately after the sandwiches arrived my daughter suffered an allergic reaction which resulted in her needing to spend most of the afternoon in the toilet being sick. She suffers from an egg allergy which was made clear when the booking was made. We were very clear that she couldn’t have any egg and queried some of the sandwich fillings. Once in contact with egg she reacts extremely quickly. She was not treated with any real care and one of her friends had to pay for antihistamines from reception! As this was her hen the occasion was completely ruined for her and everyone else yet when the bill arrived full payment was expected. I did not think this was acceptable and asked for the cost of her tea to be removed and was initially told that this was not possible. After speaking to the manager it was eventually removed. The afternoon was not as expected and I do not feel that the staff showed any real care or compassion. I will not be recommending or visiting again. Extremely expensive ruined occasion.

Great hotel, recommend the activities, great for couple and friends. Tennis, Shooting disks and can fish in the nearby lake. The sushi restaurant was a bit slow getting out the food but other than that was great. The staff were friendly and took great care of us. The afternoon tea was amazing, and one of the staff recommended us the train station to get to London which was better than the car ride there.

Could not have loved our stay more!! This is one of the best Four Seasons I have been to and certainly the most kid-friendly. I cant recommend this hotel enough to any young family (I will fly back to England just to go here). The staff was incredible - beyond accommodating and over-the-top with our daughter. I wish I could remember our servers names at breakfast but each morning they made her a mini "Kid-ccino" to match my cappuccino which she LOVED. the kids pool is one of the best I have seen - it was hard to get my daughter out of there. We loved walking the grounds and saying hi to all of the animals. This truly was a hotel that mixes 5 star service and ambience (for adults) with family friendly accommodations and amenities. We loved every minute and cant wait to go back.

See in beautiful grounds the staff and service are faultless. Of Hampshire is on your itinerary you can do worse than the four seasons. Impeccable decor, good food and a well equipped pool and spa. Spoil yourself.

If your looking for a nice hotel for even just a weekend getaway from London this is the choice to go for!! If I’m honest, I’m not one for leaving reviews however I was so impressed I felt I needed to leave a honest review… I booked this hotel after much deliberation after seeing the initial price however on our arrival through to our checkout it was an amazing experience. From my 5 year old daughter being greeted at check in by getting her own ‘Four Seasons’ passport to the personal greeting on the mirror in our room I really feel this hotel and it’s staff goes one step beyond any other hotel. It’s immaculately clean and the room was super spacious! We booked a Mews room which is a cheaper option however had plenty of room with 2 double beds in! To add to this.. 5 year olds and younger eat for free in the restaurant Lots of great activities for little ones like horse riding and visiting sharkys swimming pool with its slide and even bike riding around the ground on the bikes the hotel provides.

We left a big jumper so it’s not like it’s something that’s hard to notice in the room (bathroom) when checking out. I called an hour or so later and they said they couldn’t find it. It’s clear that whoever checked/cleaned the room has taken it. Needless to say we were really disappointed that a brand like FS would have such low standards when it comes to staffing. There was not even an apology from the hotel just a simple - we can’t find it. Even more so, they kept avoiding the call saying they will call back in 10mins… never did. We called back the next day… same thing again.

This is our first time staying at a four seasons hotel and it did not disappoint. This is our last night of three and everything from the room to the facilities, spa and food was spectacular. The staff are beyond attentive. However, the best facilities in our opinion are those provided for kids, unlike any other luxury hotel we have stayed in. We will absolutely return. Couldn’t recommend it more.

Not quite where it needs to be at this price point. Positives: room clean and comfortable, welcome charming, spa treatment excellent. Negatives: vitality pool in desperate need of cleaning and maintenance (weeds growing and jets not functioning) simply not acceptable in this standard of property. Restaurant ludicrously expensive for both dinner and breakfast given this is a very family friendly hotel and the atmosphere is creche like. Food fine, service trying hard on a busy first day of the holidays. We had a pleasant stay, but I wouldn't rush back. Good option with small children if money is no object. Nowhere near the competition for adult groups or couples.
