Attended a new year eve do at the peat spade. The fixed menu was £75 a head plus drinks. This review is in two sections, the first for part for the food and the second the occasion itself. We were greeted with canapés and a glass of sparkling. Canapés were good, plenty of variety and fresh. The lobster sponge and...

We stayed one night here in Longstock not far from Stockbridge on our way east. The staff were young, efficient and charming. The room although on the small side was in a converted barn behind the pub and as a result we didn't suffer from late night jollies from locals in the bar. The supper menu was simple with limited...

I know this pub of old, and it is still a gem. The ladies running the place were very welcoming and friendly. I had just had a very long journey from Turkey and had been stuck in snow for 24 hours so this was a welcoming that I needed. I had a truly excellent pint of nutty beer - well...

Stayed at the Peat Spade for the weekend with 5 friends for a catch-up and golf weekend. Excellent service and rooms. I was in a twin in the annex. Really comfortable and well decorated. Great coffee and the small fresh milk bottles in the fridge was a really nice touch. Food was fantastic. We eat there on the Friday night...

We had a lovely comfortable room, very clean good facilities. Good restaurant and great food. We did however have a problem. Everywhere was very cold and even though we had booked a table we were placed in a new annex, doors open and no heating, freezing. When we asked to be moved we were told to go in the bar!!!...

Our food was very good and the service friendly and helpful. Sadly both the bar area and restaurant were cold, the front door kept wedging partially open. It is November, switch on your radiators and fix your door.

We stopped off in The Peat Spade but hadn't booked. We asked for a table for two and were told quite abruptly and in a condescending tone that no tables were available and the tables that were booked were for two large parties. We did say that we were willing to sit outside in the beer garden and have our...

Having known the Peat Spade for the last six years I picked it as a place for supper post work with friends. I always look forward to going as the building is so beautiful and from the outside gives a feel good factor; pretty and inviting. Inside is cosy and well set up. Somehow I always come away feeling somewhat...
