The Peat Spade is an attractive place in a nice setting with attentive staff. However, the place is being let down by a very dull menu and average quality food. I have eaten here twice in the past month and the menu was unchanged, with limited choice and the food not really up to much.

Not long back from a tour of the south which we do every couple of years and decided to share some of our experiences, decided to start with peat spade as it was the worst we had visited this time. Arrived early afternoon to check in and was greeted well should we say grunted at by a foreign lady if...

We stayed here as part of a group fishing, and whilst overall it was ok, that's about as far as you could go. All of the staff were really helpful and pleasant, and made the stay enjoyable. There is a choice of well kept ales and the wine list wasn't bad and represented good value for money. The menu is...

fabulous, warm and welcoming pub, excellent rooms with fair prices, good choice of drinks at the bar, with excellent staff. Breakfast was enough without over stretching your tummy! it allows dogs in bar so good for walkers with and without pets

The Peat Spade Inn is in the pretty and quiet village of Longstock not far from Stockbridge. A few miles up some windy country lanes this pub is worth the effort. Nice beer selection in a cosy bar plus excellent quality food in the pleasant and roomy restaurant. It's also got a great garden and rooms. Worth a visit.

This was our second stay at the Peat Spade Inn, with our little black Pug Dog. Our room this time was on the ground floor of the Peat house building which is perfect when the little pooch needed to pop out for a tinkle. A very nice room, nicely furnished plus a comfortable bed with soft pillows; there is a...

Room very nicely appointed with good fittings, toiletries, refreshments (very little room at the side of the bed). Free parking. Dog friendly. Small village with no other facilities so have to eat there if having a drink. Catering disappointing- portion control very evident. Beer uninspiring and expensive. Food over priced and not great. Breakfast limited- no fruit, no choice of...

Normally stay with family in Lockerley but due to arrival of a new baby, there was no room at the inn! Decided to look at nearby hotels and came across this one by chance. Though it's advertised as Stockbridge it's actually in the nearby village of Longstock. I was quoted a very cheap rate for the room with breakfast included...

Stayed on business and was very pleasantly surprised. A lot of times when staying in an inn the bedrooms can be a bit of a let down. NOT in his case. Very well presented room in a quintessential way. Absolutely bags of character and country heritage. My room came with a nice en-suite shower room and the usual toiletries were...
