I have an unexpected night in Cowes and my yacht club is closed week nights in the Winter. The Villa Rothsay presents a step back in time to the period when Edward V11 reigned but with 21st century comfort. Splendid sea views from my triple aspected large warm room with all amenities and a huge comfortable bed with spotless cotton... More

A fantastic hotel which maintains its Victorian charm. The owners could not be more helpful and the evening meal was really good. The honesty bar is a welcome touch. We stayed there for friends wedding and it was a great choice. A short walk in to Cowes and very convenient for the Solent. Looking forward to the next opportunity to... More

We had a lovely time at this hotel for a weekend away. Villa Rothsay is a truly special and unique place, packed with history, artefacts and sailing-related memorabilia. Our meal on the Saturday evening will stay in our memories for a long time. The food was delicious and plentiful. It’s a wonder the table wasn’t groaning with the weight. The... More

I loved my stay at Villa Rothesay. I was so impressed with the service. They couldn't do enough to make sure my stay was good. Even offering to wash my Lycra shorts after a day's ride ! The English breakfast was excellent and it set me up for a long day's ride. Charming and very comfortable.

We stayed here for 2 nights while attending a conference. I am amazed at the good reviews this hotel has as our experience was far from good! On arrival we were taken to our room, it was noticed by the receptionist that there were not enough towels ready for us and she did get some more. The view was the... More

Thank you for taking your time reviewing our hotel. I am very concerned about your comments, as you can see, they are not consistent with other reviews (either here on TA or on any other hotel review sites). We are not a run-of-the-mill conference type hotel which some people prefer from a hotel, instead we are unique, quirky and characterful... More

We stayed here whilst visiting Cowes for a yacht race on the Saturday. It's a short walk away from the centre but don't let that put you off. The hotel has great views over the Solent and the staff are brilliant. The hotel is also very pleasantly quirky with an Edwardian yachty feel to it. We had a great room... More

We visited the Villa Rothsay for a significant birthday for a (the) senior member of our family. The owner and staff bent over backwards to please her and accommodate us as a family!!! The fact that the hotel is very comfortable and exactly to our taste was a massive bonus. The honesty bar is better stocked than most pubs! The... More

Where do you start? The hotel called me on the day we were to arrive to ask if they could give us a lift from the ferry. TICK one for super service. Rothsay is an old (late 19th Century) Villa on the hill in West Cowes overlooking the solent. It has a pedestrian exit down to the beach. It is... More

Upon entering the Villa Rothsay, one is truly transported back into the Victorian era in the most comforting and marvellous way. This grand old lady's staircase creaks, her walls unabashedly proud of a long and glorious association with yachting, famous yachtsmen and all the wonderful romance of Cowes. Pour oneself a stiff gin from the honour bar and take in... More

Villa Rothsay is unique - not only due to the hotel's sailing history. The owner and the team make you feel very welcome from the first moment. Some of the rooms are larger, others are smaller but they all share the typical British flair. Dinner is also quite typical but always delicious and freshly prepared. The hotel has wifi. If... More
