The Garden House was full of really thoughtful amenities, including good lamps to read by, and Sean's tour on arrival explaining how things worked was a model of hostly considerateness. The bed was very comfortable and the titles of the many books impressive. We had a most lovely walk around the garden and sat on a bench overlooking the ha-ha...

It was sparkly having you here. Great conversation and much in common. We do look forward to repeating the experience. It is a paradoxical feature of coming here that you can be active and relax at the same time. There's still much more to do with Pevsner and our historic walks guides. I am sorry to say I think a...

We based ourselves at Godwin House so we could be near to Sissinghurst and Great Dixter. A delightful, charming and comfortable B&B in stunning countryside and a very relaxing place to recharge between garden visits. On our arrival we were welcomed with drinks and nibbles in the garden - our hosts Sean and Corinna were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. There is...

We hope you do do a repeat. There are lots more books to look at and to talk about and as we said a short trip is hardly world enough and time to see what you can see here, not least other gardens. And Sissinghurst is always worth more than one visit. Thank you for saying such nice things and...

We spent a wonderful three nights in the quirky, delightful 18th century Oast House at Godwin. House. The room was a moderate size, full of character and beautifully decorated with rugs and brass rubbings on the walls and with an excellent en suite. Our hosts were most welcoming with afternoon tea on arrival in the beautiful garden and they provided...

We hope the picnic breakfast took the edge off the cruelly early start. We tried to make it a bit varied. We like the description of 'quirky' for Godwin's Oast House. It is a quirk in that there is nothing like it. It's the only surviving 16th Cent type oast house which was rebuilt in the 18th Cent so it...

Upon arrival at The Godwin House B&B, we received a very warm welcome by our host and hostess Seán and Corinna. We had tea and cake (but wine or gin and tonic or any other drink would also have been possible) in their beautiful garden on a perfect afternoon in June 2015. We spent three nights in the comfortable Garden...

It's easy to be enthusiastic about the places around here because it is so special. It is among the best of England and that's high standard. We enjoyed sharing it with you and hope to do so again. We do think the Garden Cottage is quite a romantic place and are glad you thought so.

We spent two nights in the Oast House of this amazing B&B and loved it very much not only because of it's history also because of the very (!) impressive and precious inside style of the Oast House. Everything (!) was just wonderful, the garden, the moorhens ;-) the breakfast, the warm hospitality and inspiring conversations. We will be back...

Thank you for your whizzy fab review. It was fun having you both here and we appreciate it when people are enthusiastic about the oast house. We've put a lot of thought into it and it is a lovely dab of unique antiquity right in the main line of Kent's historic life and landscape. We look forward to welcoming you...

We have just returned from our stay at Godwin House, Corrina and Sean Holden's lovely 16th century Elizabethan home in Cranbrook, and cannot recommend it highly enough as a perfect base from which to visit Sissinghurst and Great Dixter, among other places in that part of Kent. Corrina and Sean welcomed us warmly with tea and cake, and immediately made...

The talk was enlivening and memorable, Corinna and I love the author we discovered from your visit and we are sure we'll see you again. There's so much more of Kipling, castles and countryside for you to see. There's the steam train to remind you of old times. We look forward to renewing the conversations.

We spent 3 nights in the Garden Cottage at the end of May. It was our base for visiting Sissinghurst, Great Dixter, Canterbury (and Rochester - enroute back to London). Ir was fun having you as guests because the talking was good and we liked how you liked this beautiful area and the things that make it special. Thank you for your recommendation and of course you must come back. Time the return for the Dickens festival to give you an exceptionally good reason to go back to Rochester, Early...

I can not give high enough praise for Corrine and Sean's amazing B&B. Firstly initial impressions are fabulous. We think it was great that you took the electric bikes. A really fulfilling way to see the beauty that we are so lucky to have all around here. The oasts are the signature of Kent so you are right in the bosom of the county's history when you stay here in the oldest one of all. Thank you for...

A lovely welcome from Sean and Corinna following a torrid time on the M25. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
You are invited to bed and breakfast at our Tudor home in the heart of the Weald of Kent. Godwin House, is an Elizabethan farmhouse built in 1580 and, set in lovely grounds minutes from ancient Cranbrook and Sissinghurst. You can choose between two luxurious en suite rooms - stylish Garden Cottage or our beautiful, unique Oast House, the oldest in England, a 16th Century building rebuilt in 1740. Garden Cottage with its peg tiled roof and weatherboarding is pure Kentish style. Exposed beams and antique furniture create a welcoming and interesting space, relaxing and private. Godwin’s Oast House is special. There’s nowhere like it. You are in the heart of Kent’s history and rural life but with en-suite comfort, fine furnishings, king sized sleigh bed and mod cons. Breakfast is the best of local produce with home baked bread fresh on the day served in our Tudor Morning Room in the house overlooking the views in this designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. ... more   less
