My husband and I stayed for 2 nights over the Bank Holiday weekend in the characterful Oast House room. The property was set in a beautiful well tended garden. We very much enjoyed our weekend - the room was charming and well equipped. The shower room was stocked with top quality toiletries, everything from moisturisers to toothpaste to eye makeup...

Thank you for the kind review. The detail you enjoyed is very much Corinna's thoughtfulness, though the marmalade is mine. The conversation was a pleasure and we look froward to carrying it on again on a future visit.

Seán and Corinna are charming and convivial hosts at their hidden gem of a house in the glorious Wealden countryside. Welcoming G&Ts on arrival, comfortable accommodation and an outstanding breakfast - particular highlights being homemade sherry, sloe and whiskey marmalades and freshly baked bread. A very civilised experience, at the top end of the market in terms of quality and...

You don't need an excuse to come back. It was great fun having you here with much lively post election talk. This is a fab area with much to see. There'll be new forms of marmalade and there's always the Euro referendum to chew over at breakfast - before it happens rather than after. We look forward to welcoming you...

Two nights to get away from it all, including Election Night 2015, and what a perfect haven. We stayed in the cosy Garden Cottage at Godwin House just outside Cranbrook. From the wonderful welcome from Corinna and Sean offering a G&T or cup of tea, to the lively political conversation on Election Morn and the fabulous full English breakfasts, to...

Thank you very much for your kind words - it is very important to us that you are happy and relaxed while staying at Godwin House. And it was a particularly special time with the election happening and turning out to be such a surprise. You managed to see a great deal while you were here... but there is still...

Lovely tranquil setting, pleasant comfortable cottage and extremely congenial and interesting hosts. The breakfasts were terrific - locally sourced produce and home-made breads and marmalades - kept us going well into the afternoon. We chose to sit and chat with Corinna and Sean after a leisurely breakfast, so for us it felt more like staying with new-found friends than a...

It was a real pleasure having you! Thank you for your kind words - they mean a lot to us. I thoroughly enjoyed our chats so I hope you will come back soon so we can carry on... and there is still lots to see and do near by. I hope you weren't too disappointed by the election results :)!...

We stayed two nights in the oast house room. This is very charmingly decorated & furnished. The host made us a lovely G&T as a welcome which we had on the back terrace with some nibbles. They had made us dinner reservations locally which is a nice touch also. The breakfast spread is as pictured and totally lives up to...

Thank you for your kind words. Your pleasure and enjoyment are very important to us so we are very happy you enjoyed your stay with us. I'm glad the breakfasts lived up to expectation. Sean is especially proud of the wide range of marmalades he manages to concoct! I do hope that you will come and see us again soon....

My husband and I were visiting Sissinghurst Gardens, and Godwin House was ideally located. There were good conversations which we should take up again so we would love to see you back. You have family nearby so you're pretty much local and you're welcome to put up here next time. There'll be the same hospitality and even more types of marmalade.

We love the British tradition of B&Bs and Sean & Corinna's hospitality was a first class example of that tradition. Lovely and comfortable accommodation; great views; excellent food and, what was for us a highlight, was stimulating conversation. A great experience.

Thank you so much for such a kind review. It's particularly good to have it from people who know about food. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
You are invited to bed and breakfast at our Tudor home in the heart of the Weald of Kent. Godwin House, is an Elizabethan farmhouse built in 1580 and, set in lovely grounds minutes from ancient Cranbrook and Sissinghurst. You can choose between two luxurious en suite rooms - stylish Garden Cottage or our beautiful, unique Oast House, the oldest in England, a 16th Century building rebuilt in 1740. Garden Cottage with its peg tiled roof and weatherboarding is pure Kentish style. Exposed beams and antique furniture create a welcoming and interesting space, relaxing and private. Godwin’s Oast House is special. There’s nowhere like it. You are in the heart of Kent’s history and rural life but with en-suite comfort, fine furnishings, king sized sleigh bed and mod cons. Breakfast is the best of local produce with home baked bread fresh on the day served in our Tudor Morning Room in the house overlooking the views in this designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. ... more   less

“The oast house room is lovely & full of character & we loved it... but if you are not good with steps is perhaps not ideal as there is a big step up into the room from the entrance hallway. Going back into the hall there is a low door [with good padding to reduce accidents.] The bathroom is also not ideal for very tall people being that it has a sloping ceiling [I am average height & it was fine]. Also as has been mentioned that room is by the road, so there is some traffic noise. They provide ear plugs if you need but I did not.”
