Stayed here for 2 nights as visiting Chatham Dockyard and the area. First impression of the hotel not great due to rubble of demolished building near car park entrance. The hotel used to be a NAAFI and has some military utilitarian aspects. BUT don’t let this put you off. We had a very friendly welcome from Steph when we checked in. Room clean, tea etc provided, bed comfortable, USB charging sockets, very fast WiFi. Toilet shower clean and all worked well with liquid soap provided. We ate here 2 nights, again friendly efficient service and all the meals were good and reasonably priced. Breakfast good too. Prices quite a bit lower than B&B we had considered staying at. Would, certainly use again if staying in the area.

We stayed overnight for a concert at Rochester Castle following recommendation from The Ship and Trades who we were originally booked with but they had had a fire. Initial impression was a bit off putting - building work in progress and a bit scruffy but don’t be deterred. The King Charles is quirky and rather dated decor wise but the rooms are spacious and very very clean, the staff were very friendly and pleasant, the breakfast was lovely. I honestly can’t say a bad word about it. Read the history and enjoy the quirkiness. Amazing value for money - I highly recommend - Good luck with the renovations and Thankyou to the lovely staff.

We booked here as was recommended yet didn't live up to expectations. The outside is very dated and the rooms need quite a bit of work to being them up to standard. I struggled to get to sleep as bed and pillows not as comfortable as I thought. For was okay, quite bland. Positives - staff work very hard and are very accommodating. Thank you.

Quite honestly I don’t know how the King Charles hasn’t had more reviews like mine 9 days ago a party of 10 of us checked in The grim fencing of the old car park wasn’t a great first impression, it got worse. Most rooms were actually damp, one had a urine bouquet. The beds were adequate, but the furniture in the reception area was only fit for the tip! The armrests were blackened with grease from 1000’s of hands touching them. The breakfast tables were tacky to the touch…. I could go on but I think you get the picture. Do not stay here …. Ever

Thank you for your recent review of the King Charles Hotel. I am sorry that you did not enjoy your stay with us. Maybe the reason that we do not have more reviews like yours, is that your review is not really very accurate.

My wife and I stayed at the King Charles Hotel after our holiday was cancelled to Spain. When we arrived I was less than blown away by first sight. But first sight aside we've had a great time here. The room is more than adiquate for our needs. The room is clean and tidy, the shower/bathroom is very nice and clean with towels changed everyday. All in all a fab stay and will come back no worries
