Stayed at this picturesque and out of the way location for a function. Service informal and friendly. Rooms, once key was mastered, are neat and comfortable with very good shower room Breakfast was also more than acceptable, professionally served and nice cooked food Meal in function suite was enjoyable and better than elsewhere when cooking for large numbers. Vegetables were...

Lunch arranged by family member for an Easter treat. The mussels ordered by myself were over cooked and the sauce boiled making the cream gloopy. The butternut squash soup was very tasty. The steak pie had been reheated to the point where the pastry is hard and the crust burnt. Not impressed.

We booked a late lunch here after we decided to walk round the Tolkien trail, it was the perfect end to a challenging walk in the mud! The staff were really helpful with advice prior to the walk and when we returned the meal itself - potato and leek soup & bury black pudding to start with fish & chips...

Just got back from a most beautiful wedding held in the shiremoor arms. The setting was stunning. The grounds, the countryside , the place its self was gorgeous. The food was a delight, the service was second to none . Just brilliant

We stopped into the pub for a drink on a Saturday afternoon after having walked The Tolkien Trail with our family and dog. The weather hadn't been great and the walk was incredibly muddy (still fantastic and worth it though!). Unsure as to whether our dog and our muddy boots were welcome, we were reassured this was no problem with...

Popped into this pub for lunch on our way to the Trough of Bowland for a couple of days. The food exceeded our expectations with generous portions and very tasty grub. A ploughmans platter with pork pie, cheese, ham and pate was really tasty, with plenty of bread for a change. The hot beef and onion marmalade sandwich was really...

The room was far too hot. The bed was terrible too small with wooden sides which was an issue when getting in and out of bed. The pillows useless. Bathroom was fine. Views lovely. There was limlted choice of white wine which was poor quality and expensive to buy. Breakfast good. All in all will not stay here again.

Nice place. Charming pub, nice romantic rooms in true British style. Good restaurant but the service is truly appalling . The staff are nice enough, just slow and inattentive...Mars what could be a great experience Also the rooms have poor water pressure, a bit frustrating...

We visited The Shireburn for just one night. Met friends for lunch and enjoyed a generous lunch .The roast beef was delicious although the Yorkshire puddings were rather small. After lunch we checked into our room and were directed to a red door and told our room was up the stairs. No offer of help so we seniors had to...
