We spent two nights at the Royal Oak on 13th and 14th. January 2017,on bed and breakfast board basis. We travelled from the North West on Friday taking 2.25 hours on a frosty day which became milder during the afternoon. A family surprise birthday party luncheon on Saturday saw 21 family and friends meeting at this gastropub, which provided a...

High spec rooms, spacious, warm and very comfortable. Good quality teas, coffees, bed linen and towels. Food was of a high standard, especially breakfast. Personable staff, top service, all in all very good value for money and a really pleasant stay. If we are in the area we'll definitely be staying here again.

An excellent Christmas evening for 9 last night, great food (loved the smoked mackerel scotch egg) superb service from an efficient, helpful staff. We have visited several times, Sunday lunch is excellent, and we will keep returning.

Managed to accommodate a table for 6 at short notice for a late Sunday lunch. The menu choice was good and all of the dishes were first class. Could not fault the quality of the food or the customer service. Great value and will be back soon.

This is a lovely place for a super pub lunch. Nice setting, looks good, great food, and super staff. We had a large party and it was well catered for and we were looked after. We were cramped in a room which was probably too small, but that was more the size of our group. I would go again.

Food is always excellent, staff are friendly and Gluten Free options are brilliant, we return time and again. Visiting again over the festive season always our first choice for family, friends or a work do.

This pub was recommended by a friend as being a good meeting point for those coming from north and south, being near junction 23 of the M1. What a find! We all enjoyed a wonderful Sunday lunch. The welcome was warm, and the service was exemplary. Two of us had, and really enjoyed, the sharing platter of beef, pork and...

We stayed her for one night a couple of days ago. Our room was lovely. In the annexe next to the pub, parking directly outside, quiet, well equipped. We loved the fabulous comfy bed, jacuzzi bath was fun! We hadn't booked a table for dinner, but we were glad they fitted us in because the food was superb, the staff...
