We had a night in Scunthorpe for the football and wanted to find somewhere close enough to the high street for a few drinks out. The Downs served this purpose. It is somewhat outdated and could do with a bit of a refresh but, for the price we paid for one night with breakfast (which was tasty and hearty!) we...

I know Scunthorpe very well after having been based in Barracks outside (Kirton-in-Lindsey). I have used this B&B for a good number of years now. It is very central, though you wouldn`t know, by how quiet it is. It is located at the end of a street, no through road. You are no more than 100-200 metre`s away from a...

Unexpectedly we couldn't get into our 'usual' Hotel in the Town - by chance I had received a tripadvisor update to my phone. It showed the top 5 b and b's in the town. I was literally 2 mins walk away from the Downs. I took a walk to have a look and bumped into the owner - had a...

I've stayed in Downs Guest House twice while visiting Sc*nthorpe, and have to say I thoroughly enjoyed by stay both times. The rooms are bright and airy, bursting with comfort. The owners are friendly and welcoming (pretty good cooks too!) and are more than happy to give you a rundown of the surrounding area. The communal areas are bursting with...

The proprietor goes out of his way to make you feel welcome, and the room is clean and comfortable. Shame it isn't en-suite, but, hey, for the price, it is excellent. Really good breakfast, made to your specification. He even obtained Lincolnshire sausages for me! Would definitely stay again.

The rooms are cosy and clean. The Main Town Centre and Train Station only a few minutes walk. There are plenty of takeaways within short walking distance and even a supermarket. The breakfast is a good way to start the day and is made to your preferences. Allan is a friendly host willing to offer travel and sight seeing advice.

The rooms are nice, comfortable, and clean. There is a lot of sightseeing within walking distance. The owner, Allan, is always willing to provide advice and recommendations on food and sights. The train station is only a few block away from the Downs Guest House. The breakfast (which is included in your room price) is a great way to start...
