Wow, this little village is blessed! We've previously only stayed at the Star Inn nearby so we wanted to try the Pheasant. We were not disappointed! Firstly, it's absolutely gorgeous throughout. There are so many places to sit and drink/eat and the terrace was lovely in the sunshine. Secondly, the staff really make this place and they were all super....

Lovely hotel in an area with a lot of sites and amenities. Very welcoming staff, we were told all the essentials clearly and without fuss. We had a lovely room overlooking the duck pond which was delightful. We felt that we were provided with everything we wanted and had a lovely stay. I definitely recommend it and will stay there...

I had been looking for somewhere special to take my friend for afternoon tea to celebrate her birthday. I had booked about a week before the event and phoned again on the morning to confirm the booking. The lady I spoke to confirmed the time and that they would do a 'birthday plate' for her. When we arrived I was...

Small hotel in quiet sleepy village opposite the church and overlooking village duck pond. Great décor and friendly staff. Food excellent and very good choice of wines. Small indoor pool and lovely veranda for sitting out to have drinks overlooking the garden. Helmsley is a

My husband and I have been very busy recently and felt the need for a short break away without a long drive from west Yorkshire. We both like swimming and a recent injury of mine would benefit from a leisurely dip so we searched for accommodation which would have a pool, comfortable accommodation and good food. What a great find...

Excellent meal to celebrate the opening of our new gallery in Kirkbymoorside with friends who helped massively. Tasting menu was sublime, service impeccable and the location very special. Clear links to Peter Silk run through the hotel, creating a relaxed and peaceful environment. Peter Neville, as the lead chef, puts huge enthusiasm into each dish many of which have foraged...

The Pheasant in Harem is our favourite special restuarant in the area. We went for our wedding anniversary with two friends from London. It was their first visit and they were very well impressed by the quality of the food, the service, the surroundings. Unfortunately the weather was unsuitable for us to sit out on the terrace for coffee on...

Five 'ladies that lunch', one celebrating a birthday. The staff were superb and helped to make it an extra special day; they just went that extra mile, without being asked, to make it a memorable and happy day for us all. Excellent food to boot - we couldn't have asked for more. Our thanks to the photographer (waiter) for all...

We went for a few quiet drinks here and we were blown away by how beautiful it is. We were fortunate to have been on a gorgeous summer evening and were able to sit on the terrace at the back overlooking the village pond. The terrace has a pergola strung with fairy lights and candles on the tables. The atmosphere...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Pheasant has arguably one of the most beautiful Country Hotel settings in North Yorkshire, over looking the duck pond in the picturesque village of Harome. Originally converted from what had been the blacksmith's shop, village shop and barns, the main part of the hotel offers one single and eleven double rooms, whilst in the sheltered courtyard are two suites, the Pheasant Suite and Plum Cottage, each with its own private entrance, two further family rooms which each have two bedrooms and the heated indoor swimming pool. The stylish and highly individual interiors - designed by Director Jacquie Pern - give the accommodation a homely and welcome feel, which continues throughout the public areas: the lounge, bar, conservatory, dining room and terrace, providing a variety of options of where to eat or enjoy a drink. The Pheasant has established a reputation for great food under the capable hands of Chef/Director Peter Neville. Residents and non-residents can choose from a wide range of menus, all taking advantage of the wealth of local, seasonal produce, including a fixed price daily Market Menu, the A la Carte, and a Tasting Menu with optional matched wine package. The Pheasant has been awarded Welcome to Yorkshire's "Small Hotel of the Year 2016". In 2014 The Pheasant was awarded the Yorkshire Life "Small but Special Accommodation" Award. The Hotel has recently been awarded Three AA Red Stars Inspectors' Choice Country House Hotel. Seasonal and special breaks are available throughout the year. ... more   less
