One of my favourite hostels, conveniently located and the staff could not be friendlier or more helpful. Excellent large drying room, perfect for Pennine Wayfarers, campers, cyclists. Unusually for a traditional hostel the facilities are very well arranged, the well-appointed s/c kitchen is adjacent to the dining area and lounge which has games, WiFi and sofas. You can buy hot...

This is a no nonsense traditional youth hostel centrally located in the heart of Wensleydale, so an ideal place to explore the dales. We had booked a private en suite room for comfort and privacy and it was very adequate, provided you don't mind bunk beds. A basic and very cheap evening meal service is offered, as is a cooked...

Great place to stay. Lovely location and stunning scenery. Very basic with bunk beds but great for walkers and cyclists. Great cooked breakfast, secure bike storage. Good lounge. Excellent price only£25 for the night. Only 5 min walk into the centre of Hawes

We'd walked from Grinton (quite a hike) and this was most welcome. We decided to eat out and Hawes has a range of pubs juts round the corner. The YHA is comfortable, though modern. I would certainly stay again.

Stayed for 1 night with 2 kids. We'd not stayed in a Youth Hostel before and didn't expect much but we were pleasantly surprised. The decor was a bit tired and worn but the rooms were fine. They were clean and the beds comfortable. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was good, although I'm not sure if we should...

We needed a last minute place to stay en route to Cumbria and found this little gem, what a great place to stay for a night in Hawes, we'd normally camp but sometimes you just need the simplicity of a room for the night. The room was spotlessly clean, as were the communal bathrooms. The staff were all friendly and...

Having never stayed in a YH before we found this one to be warm, welcoming and comfortable. Yes it's relatively basic, but for one night this wasn't an issue. There is good storage, drying rooms, hot showers and clean rooms. Breakfast was ample and with a selection for everyone. The staff work hard and remain helpful and friendly. Wouldn't stay...

We stayed for one night in an extremely basic family room which was roughly the same size as a single garage with bunk beds and a single bed. The walls were so thin we could hear every word of the conversation in the next room. For the delights of shared toilets and washrooms ( which smelt just as I remember...

Stayed at Whit week for one night and had all meals here, during a 2 day, hard cycle tour. Meal portions were fine, and my calorie output was huge. Breakfast was particularly good. Night time meal filling and good value. Other, Pennine Way walkers also agreed with this. Room with only one bunk bed was fine. Shared toilets, could only...
