Have had Sunday lunch many times and have always had excellent service and quality however, this visit was very disappointing ! It has changed ownership since my last visit, many of the staff which made it special have left. The starter of scallops were poor and over priced! To be fair the roast beef was good, but not worth the 45minute...

16 of the family booked afternoon tea at the tontine and despite being the only people in the restaurant we were well served and enjoyed it very tasty tea with all the expected sugar goodies Excellent value for money and staff were friendly and professional Glorious relaxation the garden area afterwards and enjoyed a few cool drinks

We stayed here for one night on a special dinner, bed and breakfast rate. The room, number 5, was spotless, comfortable and well presented. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious and skilfully cooked. Service from all staff we encountered was of a very high standard. However, one member of staff is worthy of mention. From his greeting on arrival, to...

On a recommendation my husband booked a two night stay at The Cleveland Tontine for a birthday treat for me. The hotel was easy to find and even though we knew from the directions it was just off the A19 we were surprised just how close it was, but once we parked up and entered the hotel we felt we...

We came to the Tontine for a few days stay in North Yorkshire. It is right next to the A19, so easy to find. The rooms are clean and comfortable and well proportioned. The bed was comfortable and the ensuite bathroom contained a big bath and a separate shower. Although the room had secondary glazing it was still possible to...

I have eaten at the Tonetine for many years now and found the food always to be of a very high standard. Last week we booked Dinner, Bed and Breakfast. From arriving we were made to feel very welcome, the rooms are quality with a hint of quirkiness. Dinner was brilliant, good service and nicely cooked. A credit to the...

Food was good the ambience was fine Nice menu good choice. Can't be said to be cheap around £100 for two with three drinks no wine. Went in on a Saturday evening so busy and missing detail. Example Crispy breast of duck with Leg confit. Confit left off duck not crispy although very tasty didn't deliver what it said on...

The Tontine has had a chequered history over the past few years Big investment and so many things improved but in other ways just lost the Tontine feeling So new owners again. Some subtle changes to seating in the cocktail bar work well I had sirloin which was good but are better sirloins around. Read my reviews to know where!...

My boyfriend surprised me with a stay here last week and I'm from the local area and had always wanted to stay here - little did I know this was because he was going to propose that day at nearby Mount Grace Priory! Given it turned out to be a special occasion I toyed with the idea of letting them...

Came for dinner last week with a friend, beautiful building and the restaurant is stunning with cloth napkins, candles, huge feature fireplace. Really impressed. We started with a chicken and duck terrine but it was a little dry and had a strange taste, I certainly wouldn't order this again. The selection of breads which included olive bread accompanied with butter...
