We've been here lots of times with a local Citroen 2CV club who organise a run here every January. The place is best described as "quirky" but that's only to be expected from somewhere so high and so isolated! It is a traditional style Moors pub, lots of ales, stone floors, log fires. It USED to have truly awful service...

I have visited Tan Hill on a number of occasions, there is nothing quite like the highest pub in Britain which impressively sits at 1,732 feet (528m) above sea level! A quaint country style pub providing cheap camping in the backyard and a cosy pub full of great beers and friendly faces in its relaxing interior. Its location is fantastic,...

Called in for lunch yesterday, bar staff pleasant but looked out of control and stressed. Ordered beef sandwich and chips , beef tough , chips raw , nice view though . Safe to to say I won't be going back.

Seen some of the reviews and not sure what people are expecting - Tan Hill is an experience not to be missed. This is our second stay in 2016 and both have been great. We arrived January 2nd to a warm welcome from all the staff. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Our room on the first night was a...

As mentioned in a previous post we booked NYE but luckily for us we were staying in our camper so accommodation was not an issue. On arrival the manager had no record of our stay despite constant contact via text/email/FB. The only saving grace is modern technology enabling my wife to access our bank account where prof of transaction was...

We had booked 2 rooms back in September to celebrate New Years Eve with friends. At the time, we were told that there was a two night stay minimum for the NYE package and we'd be in 2 twin rooms for £700 total. The £200 deposit was paid back in September, email confirmation of the booking duly received. A couple...

We are sorry that your rooms were double booked which was due to a technical error in our booking system, of which is now fixed. I did offer you all a complimentary free nights stay with us at some other time and we hope you take up our offer.

We decided to have lunch at the highest pub in Britain. We travelled almost 2 hours and had checked the website earlier to make sure they were serving. The website said serving til 3pm. We got there at 2.10pm. My husband went to the bar and asked for a menu. The woman behind the bar said it was on a...

Dear Tj1401 We are very sorry that you weren't served food, we do stop food at 3 pm, the staff should have said that in busy times there will be a wait. Our policy is never turn people away when they have traveled so far to get here, it's one of the reason we insist that we serve hot soup...

A good place to break a journey from Lancaster to County Durham. We've called before and the welcoming roaring fire is lovely in such a wild and bleak location. We haven't tried the food here but intend to sometime. It is always very busy and the staff appeared stressed and overworked.

I stayed in the Bunk Room for one night while walking the Pennine Way. The inn itself is a beautiful sight, at the top of a long hill and completely isolated. And the bunk room was comfortable enough, though I was the only person in the room - I don't know how well it would handle it if it was...

This was our first visit to the Tan Inn. We travelled from Leeds a 90 mile drive. To say we were disappointed was an understatement. The ambience was not good, we found the pub, grubby, smelly (obviously dogs are allowed in the pub) but the pub was in my opinion due for a good overhaul. The ladies toilets were not...

Dear Vivienne So sorry for your bad experience, we have been extremely busy, far busier than any Christmas for 7 yrs and have been caught on the hop, unfornutntly we then have to open the other room and the fire wasn't lite in time , but it has been on most of the Christmas period now, I'm not sure why...
