This is not our first visit to Holly Lodge, and it was as good for us as before, left with a good feeling. A real home from home, George and Jackie made you feel so welcome and were very helpful for recommending visits etc. Everything is run like a well oiled machine definitely 5 star in everything. Parking on site for your car, walking distance to Alnwick Castle & Gardens, Hot breakfast menu is very varied and cooked to perfection, plus there is a variety of fruits, yogurts, cereals, tea's & coffee. You can tell by the way everything is laid out on the table etc it is done with professionalism & care for their guests. Bedrooms have everything you require for your stay, extremely clean. George, Jackie & Staff worked really hard to ensure that your stay with them is perfect -

Stayed 3 nights over a bank holiday weekend. Arrived late evening. Instructions for getting in were clear and simple. Parking is available and was easy to access with space for all guests even with large cars. Room was simple, neat, clean, and towels, tea & coffee & kettle, plus lots of sockets made it easy to feel at home. En suite was nicely appointed with a great shower. WiFi was available, easily accessed, and fast enough for all our needs. Breakfast was good with a selection of yogurt, cereals, and several cooked options including delicious Craster kippers and very local eggs. George and Jackie were welcoming and helpful hosts with friendly and effective staff. Holly Lodge is a short walk from most things in Alnwick. 3 minutes to withingate in town, 10 to 15 to the

From the moment we walked in we were not welcomed and only seemed to be an annoyance to the hostess. Room was tiny. Breakfast was sub-par at best and they don't do scrambled eggs. Bed was too short for a tallish person. Feet hung over the edge. Our two day stay was two days too many. We have stayed at a lot of BNB's and this was the worst.

THIS IS SO WRONG ... UNEXPECTED UN -BOOKED COACH TOUR BUS ! I received a booking from Booking.com for 4 rooms for single occupancy under the family names of Master Flascot , Miss Flascot , Mr Flascot and Mrs Flascot . To our surprise and dismay a mini bus arrived and a party of 6 American people and The tour Operator and his wife 8 people - NOT ONE OF THE GUESTS WERE CALLED FLASCOT !! The rooms were configured for single occupancy so had to be rapidly altered which was difficult given that they all surged into our Reception en- masse and then into their rooms while we were doing this. As such we could not individually greet them or indeed get their names and details to book them in even , due to the manner of their arrival. I will address the points , 1/ Not welcomed - we could not welcome them individually as above. 2/ Tiny Room - perhaps by American standards it is viewed as such but it is a doubled bedded room 218 square feet and was the choice of the Tour Operator for this guest. If the guest was very tall then why did the Tour Operator allocate the guest one of the two King Sized Rooms booked? 3/ Small bed - perfectly normal double bed size in situ. 4/ Scrambled Eggs - these were of course available on request each and every day. The Tour Operator was a gentleman from Personal Tours of Scotland called Brian Collie , who apologized for the mix up with the booking blaming Booking.com , and for the way the guests stormed in. Brian also told me the they were used to staying in large hotels with very large rooms and apologized on their behalf. Brian prides his business on being a small successful family run one , and we too pride ourselves on our small family run Guest House - so a dreadful review like this can be very damaging and is so unnecessary. THIS REVIEW SHOULD BE REMOVED GIVEN THE SITUATION WE FOUND OURSELVES IN .

Lovely clean place. Staff friendly & helpful. Very understanding regarding dietary requirements. Rooms have everything you need. Room 2 is a ground floor room which is handy but not too much extra space. Fine for a short stay. Breakfast was freshly cooked & delicious. Short walk to centre of town. On site parking is a bonus

We’ve been coming for a few years now to holly lodge and wouldn’t stay anywhere else. Lovely staff who couldn’t do more for you and have great knowledge of the local area. Breakfast is wonderful, great varied choice, freshly cooked and super tasty. Looking forward to our visit again next year.

Good location close to the town centre. Nice & clean, good shower, comfy big bed. So far so good. However breakfast let things down, usually B&Bs far outshine hotels but we felt this was a bit underwhelming. And we know staff have to get on in the mornings but we did absolutely hate all the clearing of tables & setting up for the following day immediately a set of guests left their table. In a small dining room of only 5 tables we found all the clearing up going on around us rather intimidating & felt that we were expected to hurry & eat up to avoid being a nuisance. Overall, perfectly acceptable but we did feel that the whole thing didn't quite meet the expectations we had considering the quite high price.

A little bit disappointing too that you found our staff simply doing their job in clearing away breakfast dishes from vacated tables, at fault! Every hotel , bed & breakfast , restaurant and cafe that i have been to all clear away the dishes when guests are finished how strange for you to find this disappointing ! We strive to serve the perfect breakfast providing the top quality locally produced food items , good choice of fruit, cereals , muesli , yoghurt, dried fruit and a great choice of freshly cooked hot meal too. In fact we have been awarded the Kelloggs 5 Star Breakfast Award by Visit Britain in Tourism. We will continue to clear away vacated tables as guests prefer this to looking at messy empty tables. Our quite high price , as you put it reflects our whole offer at Holly Lodge and is in fact considerably cheaper than most others in Alnwick you did enjoy a price reduction too by booking directly with us. I hope you found my email especially sent to you helpful, helping you in advance choose your restaurants due to Alnwick being very busy when you were here due to the huge influx of extra tourists visiting Alnwick.

We recently stayed here for 3 nights. From the moment we arrived we were made very welcome. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfy. Breakfast was wonderful always freshly cooked and hot. Each room has it's own parking space. The girls in the breakfast room were very friendly. In an ideal location only a short walk into Alnwick Town centre. We had a problem with our car and had to call RAC who took over 5 hours to come which meant we had to cancel our restaurant booking. Jackie knew this and she brought us some food to our room including her home made ice cream which was delicious a complete surprise as she knew we hadn't eaten since breakfast. Thank you so much. We would definitely return.

I stayed for a few nights in early July, and the location was great being in the centre of Alnwick. Check-in was easy enough with access. Room was fairly clean, but there was a large cobweb in one corner. The en-suite was a little bit of a let down without being able to change the shower head direction (sign to not touch it)...water fell on soap dispenser so each time you tried to get soap out, it was instantly washed away.

Hi Jennifer if you had only said to me there was a problem with the shower head i would have changed it for a new one immediately as i keep spares for all of our showers and the advice regarding the shower was only there in case someone pointed the shower directly at the door etc there is no problem moving it slightly from the direction it was pointed in when you used it. All our rooms were refurbished during lock down with all new bedding , lights , new smart TV'S , decorating etc..
